Is Tire-for-Life worth it ?
Hi there:
We bought a new HS250h yesterday. When we were signing paperwork, they talked us into buying a Tire-for-Life program for $2K. They said that the soft tires on the HS250h wear out quickly between 20-25K miles, and each tire cost $330, so after 2 replacement, the program pays off. We bit !!
Was it a good idea ? Thanks

i think thats a good deal, especially considering your getting factory quality OEM tires.
you will probably put more miles on a hybrid than any naturally aspirated car, so i think it'll pay off especially if its your daily.

$330 each tire? for an OE tire? isnt that super expensive?? i mean my 255/35/19 tires are $250ish... for Nitto.. not Nankang or Nexen..
something sounds fishy tho.. just like lifetime alignment at Firestone.. i personally have it n have concluded that they suck at alignments lol. got 4 alignments and my steering wheel is still crooked and my tires are still feathering.

And the 18 rims dont even have the OEM equipped tire. So i honestly dont think it was worth it. Because the OEM tires are garbage. But then again its a hybrid so i think u guys wont be abusing and trying to do what it is not compatible to do. Also those michellins got 440 treadwear. They are good for atleast 40k miles

It sucks to tell you this, but no, for THIS car it is not a good deal. If this is an "insurance" type deal, you may be able to get out of it. Depending on your state, you may have up to 60 days to cancel the agreement. Check out the fine print. If you can, go ahead and cancel it. Especially if they rolled the 2K into the loan of your car. I got one of these on a car once, got home and realized I really did not need it. I read the small print and went back to the dealer to cancel it. He was not happy because the discount on the car he gave me was in consideration for buying the tire warranty.
I should mentione that I am a former Prius owner. Just traded the IS-F for an HS250h that should be arriving today (yeh, I know). It's going to be at least 40,000 miles before you need new tires and then some. That's because you will be driving (probably) in a manner to maximize fuel economy. When I handed by Prius in at 30,000 miles the brakes were at 90% and the tired tread easily had another 20,000 miles to go on it. As for the cost of the tires, you can spend as little as $92 per tire or as much as $229 (source TireRack.com). Tires are rotated at the oil change and a balance is only needed if you curb the tire. I think you would need to do at least 120,000 miles to get your money back (Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus (Ultra High Performance All-Season) $808).
Don't mean to bring you down but I think you can get out of it.

I think this deal is BoguS.
For you to have that "lifetime" tire BS, you have to do every single suggested service even though you don't need it. pretty expensive if you ask me. came in for a 15k it was like $400
my next oil change is going to be like $300 i bet.
BS
thanks lexus of westminster.
