Default Flasher unit location

Hi guys,
I have a 2010 HS250h which I have lent to a friend and all of a sudden the hazard lights turn on randomly and even flicker sometimes and this happens while driving or parked.
If I press the hazard switch off and on it stops for a few seconds before doing it again.. before taking it to a auto electrician I thought I would try replacing the flasher unit but I am having trouble finding it? I found videos etc online which say it is behind a fuse box behind a kick panel on the drivers side but mine is not.
Just wondering if anyone knows exactly where the flasher unit is on this or have had a similar issue and fixed?
Any help very much appreciated.

There is another fuse box under the hood by the engine and it is this one that contains the relays. Inside the top cover should be a map of the relays and fuses.

However that may not be what is causing the problem. It is more likely to be due to a faulty door switch or one of the things listed below. You may need to take it to an independent repair shop that specializes in Toyotas or a car electrical specialist for diagnosis.

Troubleshooting Steps:
  1. Check all doors: Ensure all doors and the trunk are fully closed and latched.
  2. Check the battery: Ensure the battery is fully charged and in good condition.
  3. Inspect microswitches: Check the condition of the microswitches in the doors and trunk.
  4. Scan for fault codes: If possible, scan the vehicle's ECU for fault codes.
Possible Causes and Solutions:
  • Door Issues:
    • Insecurely closed doors: Check that all doors are fully closed and latched.
    • Faulty door switch: The switch that detects if a door is open may be malfunctioning.
  • Electrical Issues:
    • Battery Problems: A low or failing battery can cause erratic behavior in the vehicle's electrical system.
    • Short Circuit: A short in the wiring or a related circuit can cause unexpected flashing.
    • Microswitch Malfunction: The microswitches that detect door or trunk closures can fail, causing the hazard lights to activate.
    • ECU Fault: If the ECU is not functioning properly, it may trigger the hazard lights.
    • Alarm System: If the vehicle has an alarm system, a faulty alarm battery or sensor might be causing the issue.

So that is the way to post the perfect response to a CL question! Guess that is how to become a Moderator, right?

Actually that was a lazy answer using AI for half of it, but it was early in the morning and I had never heard of this flasher issue previously.
I think the YouTube videos are likely closer to the right solution than the door switch stuff. However one should always scan for codes in this situation.

The other Moderators select and contact members who they want to become a moderator. I got a cold contact asking if I was interested. I never thought about it previously.
