Very excited about the new GX 550 and am fortunate to have a good dealer here in Sewell Lexus of Fort Worth.

Something I noticed in the Toyota Land Cruiser announcement was this particular blurb:

I am very curious if Lexus will have the same and/or what parts yota may have that we can buy that will still be able to just be bolted on on the Lexus side of the house.

Anyone see any news around this or have thoughts?

 

Typically a car manufacturer will take their cars to the SEMA show and set aside time for the aftermarket vendors to take measurements and do test-fits.

So far as AAP, I expect those to be a curated list (by Toyota/Lexus) of 3rd party accessories that would be sold in dealerships, and be eligible to be included in the finance of a new vehicle purchase, and potentially covered under the new car warranty when installed at the time of sale. Too soon to know for sure, though.

It would appear from this recent TFL video that the AAP or Associated Accessory Program is coming to Lexus GX product line. The video shows accessories for the 2023 model, but I seriously doubt they would create an entire program like that just for an outgoing model year. I fully expect for a similar program for the current Gen GX.

Featured on the video around 17:53 you can see parts are being made by ARB, CBI, Dometic and Yakima at least. REALLY hoping that is the case for the GX 550 because it needs some rocks sliders and probably better skids... Just my thoughts and wanted to share the vid

 

One AAP program part I would sure like to see is a GX lower bumper with a winch mount. The only initial on paper drawback that I am concerned about is the approach angle. Everyone I know with a GX or 4Runner has modified the front lower to improve trail performance. It usually involved a lot of cutting of body work.

I'd like to see the optional built in air compressor part number like on the Tacoma/ 4runner Trailhunters. I seen it on the Overtrail awhile back.
