Question HD Radio Solutions for my 2011 GX460

So, the one thing that would make my GX absolutely perfect is if I could swap the satellite radio for HD radio, or add HD radio into my audio system somehow that doesn't look stuipd.

I saw a company online that makes an HD reciever that plugs into the satellite radio input on certain model Lexus cars, though it didn't seem to have anything for the 2011 GX.

I have HD Radio in an aftermarket stereo in my Honda Civic. I love it. The quality is so much better than FM analog. Also, I enjoy the additional HD2, HD3, ect channels on some of my favorite local stations.

Anyone know of any other solution out there?

I want an HD option too. I have checked with Crutchfield and they don't have anything available yet.

Luke27617, this is the only thing I have seen so far, which does seem to appear that it would work--if you have an installer you trust. It is s $250 gamble, but looks promising.

Apparently this works on a Lexus if you have a "SAT" button. So you lose your satellite radio, and put this in (fine with me). Though I'd have to find a installer I can trust and I'm sure Lexus would not be happy about this.

Don't care about XM radio as I will use it only as long as it is free.
Install shouldn't be a problem as it is all plug & play and there is plenty of space around gear shift.
After reading the description don't think it will work. Description says pretty much all model up to 2009. Since 2010 all units come with Hard drive navigation and Xm built in. There was not a single 2010 model on the list. BUT when looking on Toyota side, it included 2010 and some 2011.

I have e-mailed iSimple for compatibility. Will update as soon as I hear back from them.

Luke, I saw the same things you did and decided to call iSimple. They have all sorts of disclaimers, ect, ect., but they said it likely should work but no guarantee. They pointed me to their authorized installers - go to pac-audio.com, and put in your zip code. I came up with 5 installers in the Chicago area. I called 3 until I found one that had infact installed them on Lexus units, he even explained to me how it worked. It doesn't take out the Sat radio, but the interface of the Sat radio controls the iSimple so you can select HD or Sat. He said he would have to look at my truck, but typically the Lexus nav/radios are the same and he hasn't had a problem with them. He said $385 out the door for the whole thing installed. The site also says that if you have SAT button, and it *doesn't* say XM on your radio, then it should work. My wife is NERVOUS! haha...I'm likely to give it a shot though. The guy I talked to said it would take a half day and is reversible and he wouldn't charge if it the iSimple didn't work. Anyway, that's what I found out today.

The worst-case scenario is the dealer will replace the stereo console.

The on/off **** is my only complaint about the GX. What a STUPID place to put it!
