Lightbulb High Beam LED replacement...

Anyone successfully swap the high beam halogen with an LED that put out equivalent light? I am a heavy dark country user of high beams so it has to be useful mod. IMO the halogen high beams on the GX are pretty good.

Thanks!

Happy with my COBs, this was mainly for DRL and not sure about night time results. I have used PIAA halogen in the past 10 years or so and they are impressive as Eppieguy confirmed for night vision.

Tecman, do the COB LEDs cut power in half when in DRL mode or they are always at full power?

What do you think of the nighttime performance on highs? It would be nice to have the DRLs LED but more important is that I can still maintain the superior nighttime illumination on country roads.

I've deactivated the current DRLs in settings and just drive with my HIDs on. I need to probably replace the stock ones since newer ones of those are surely brighter at this point.

I did a comparison with high and DRL on my garage door and DRL is a lower output. I made a video but it doesn't really show it well.

Compare to stock. The fan is quiet. There’s a fanless one too but only 25w instead of 30w
Need to flip it around. The little notch cant be connected to the lock (on the other side)
Day time high beam
Passenger side
Low beam
High beam. The picture doesn’t show it well. I will probably do a garage door shot.
I purchased the same one that hzhao posted and installed
them over the weekend. Some observations

- They are really bright in high beam. They make my HID looks yellow.
- They flicker ever so slightly in DRL mode.
- Maybe for the ones I gor but one is dimmer in DRL than the other. But in high beam they are equally bright
- You have to flip the polarity on the connector to make it work. The little notch goes on the open side of OEM connector, see picture below
- Overall I’m happy with them and may contact the seller about the dim one. I may get a decoder kit to use they in DRL
- Last thing, I couldn’t get them to install with the LEDs facing the side of the housing. Best I could do is about 45deg

I have questions for BOTH bbqsoup and hzHao:

Since the bulb has the fan on the back - What do you do with the OEM rubber boot on the back of the light? Thanks.

For the '10 and I assume '12-13 are the same, there's no rubber boot in the back of the high beam bulb. The low beam has an enclosed cap that you have to twist off but the highbeam is just a bulb by itself that you can just twist and remove.

Also, if you want fanless, LasFit carry them, I may give this brand a try for my next pair.
