WAIT!... They flicker?
When using as DRL, they flicker but very lightly and not too annoying but the flickers are there. I probably get this decode and try out since I'll probably be installed in them on the Camry too

Well the rubber boots were pretty cheap... guess I won't need those.

Will the resistors affect the illumination of the high beams? I know they put on some good heat so need to mount those to something metal.

"This part is not compatible with 2011 Lexus GX460 Base Sport Utility 4-Door 4.6L 4608CC V8 GAS DOHC Naturally Aspirated. "
That was the result of searching on that ebay site for my veeeehicle.

That's exasperating... I checked 6 different listed items and when checked for vehicle compatibility, I get the same result.

I found that unless a part is the same as OEM or an OEM replacement, most will say not compatible when you compared by choosing vehicle type. The description lists gx460 2010 and up. eBay and Paypal usually have buyer protection in case it’s not as advertised. It’s in my cart and we’ll see it soon. Lol

I couldn’t get it to turn more to have the leds facing the sides directly. It was locked.
I only able to turn them a little more than the first picture. I think for low beam, you need to have them facing the side for optimal lighting, but for high beam it’s probably not as critical .

You are correct about high beam patterns. The way how GX housing the original bulb, it is just no way can make the perfect horizontal fitting with pictured LED bulb. unless to find the LED build with 4 or 6 sides elements placement. As far as I can tell, for high beam, any angle seems fine.

I notice a number of the decoders have plastic housings while the load resistors usually have a heat sink type setup that needs to be mounted to metal. Do most decoders run significantly cooler than load resistors?

They’re arriving this weekend. I think resistor load would run hotter than decoder.

Yes, it prevents the DRL flickering. We’ll see how it would work. I heard that they send full power to the LEDs instead of half so it will be all highbeam during daylight. Will see.

VLEDs told me they will have a setup in mid-late February that should work perfectly with DRL/High beam setup on '10-'13 GX.

I assume this is the decoder----> " small DRL Control Box that will just plug in line between the factory bulb connector and the LED Headlight bulb."

A variant of this I assume but spendy compared to other options.

http://www.vleds.com/micro-9005.html

It does have a 30 Day 100% risk free guarantee so will probably try them out.. they are located about 50 miles north of me.
