Redline makes a 75w85 GL4 as well, which I’m sure would be just fine in this Tcase. I just stuck with the compatibility matrix for what Toyota US recommends. For now.
I just called 4 different Lexus dealerships and they all use 75w90 in every transfer case. Some haven’t even heard of a straight 75w fluid. One guy even said that it’s a typo and 75w90 is actually recommended. He even got the tech involved to confirm it. Wtf!
Apparently pretty common. The 2012 GX460 I purchased from the dealer that did all the service on this one owner GX had the common front shaft seal leaking on the transfer case. I got all the (more detailed with part numbers) service history printed out from the dealer and they used 75W-140 in mine. I bought the golden oil and did a complete change out last weekend. Almost 40k miles since they put 75W-140 in it, so hopefully no damage was done...
About 30k miles since I last changed diff fluids so gonna do the front and rear again. TC was so clean last time I'm gonna let that go another 30-40K miles.
Alright, easy day. Got the TC service completed this morning before the sun came overhead.
Could not have been easier using all the tips and tricks in this thread.
I used OEM fluid with Lexi up on ramps and these items:
some pictures... draining fluid comparison measuring new fluid to pump back in... stuff
( I put rare earth magnets on the drain plug months ago, I saw no particulate on the drain plug when removed... so I took the magnets off on reinstall and see no need to get a magnetized drain plug for the TC)

I did my diff this morning and it took like 3.5 quarts, anyone else have an extra thirsty diff? I was on pretty level ground, but the diff is angled slightly due to the lift.
I got 3 qts, not the 2.85 qt. so somehow thirsty, too
I changed my front and rear diffs this morning. Rear did basically take the 3 quarts but I think some on mine was a little bit left in the Amsoil bags as I was filling with a vinyl tube from below. Those bags work good well though IMO. Front seemed right on at 1.5 quarts or so.
Magnet on rear diff... small amount of material on magnet and fluid still fairly translucent but noticeably worked. The front diff magnet about the same amount but fluid seemed darker than rear fluid.
I also swapped in that KAON drain plug on the front drain like a few others have here
A nice replacement for that 10mm hex considering it is torqued to 48 ft-lb. The fill is still the 10mm hex but only needs 29 ft-lb
I had to drop my Budbuilt mid skid but easy to do if you have a floor jack supporting it. I also used my Rhino ramps. I'm on the 30k plan for changes as well and at current yearly mileage probably gives me another 3 years before I have to do this again.
