I have spoken with some of the suppliers in China awhile ago regarding this setup. It is an essentially the same formal 15” one minus the HVAC controller. It will only use the head unit for CAN communication for functions like setup, steering control buttons, etc. you will loose OEM radio, media, Bluetooth function. Based on my experiences with 15” unit, there will be fair amount of issues, especially with OEM ML audio interface. Keep in mind that those units are primary developed for Asia and Mid East market, there are quite bit of difference in terms of ECUs.

Man, that wood trim around the clock looks SO out of place...like it was pulled from another model car and just stuck in there. Small gripe if it works I guess (not holding my breathe), but jumped out at me and I can't unsee it.

 

I would actually like that if it, in any way, matched my mahogany trim. Which, of course, it does not. At all.

Even so, I would probably be inclined to buy it if, deep down, I didn't actually believe that it is exactly what hzhao described.

 

the redundant power/tuning ***** would drive me crazy.

That’s the first thing that I thought as well. We’ll actually first thing was to bad this thing is probably going to work really badly. Second thing was wow that wood looks horrible.

 

Other than the wood thing (which you can just simply vinyl over) I kinda like the design. Too bad my experience with these Chinese android units is unfortunately negative. If this would work at least as good as the GROM Vline I’d try it.

That's what I noticed (and thought) as well. Are the two sets of ***** functional, or is one set made non functional with this mod?

 

I've been looking for a replacement radio set up for my 2013 GX460 for quite some time. I absolutely HATE my current radio. It has an issue where the radio station or cd / thumbdrive track randomly jumps up or down. It's driving me absolutely batcrap crazy! I believe it's related to the "Tune" **** on the cd changer, as I've sprayed it pretty good with contact cleaner and it stopped for a couple months.
If I knew it was next to impossible to change out the radio unit, quite frankly, I honestly don't know if I would have purchased the truck in the first place. Yes - it's bothering me that much! I don't have the ML system, so there certainly is nothing special about it.
I'm VERY frustrated right now.

 

Check and clean your mode and arrow buttons on the steering wheel. Mine did that before I noticed the mode button was sticking due to dirt/grime in the button channel.

I really want a nav that interfaces with Apple Car Play without any bugs and foibles. Can live with the factory size screen, just want Car Play in the worst way.
