#2023 Discussion
Only have 200 miles on my 2023 GX460. At real low speeds, such as maneuvering into a parking spot, where you are hitting your brakes, moving a few inches, and hitting your brakes again, they tend to grab/lock up hard., jerking me around in the seat, making me spill my coffee. At normal speeds, such as coming to a stop sign, they're fine. Is this normal, and will they break in/change over time? Would getting an aftermarket pad, such as Hawk brand change the feel from OEM? Thanks.
Toyota 4-Runner / FJ Cruiser / Lexus GX470 / Lexus GX460 ... all the same brakes ... all highly susceptible to Gazing and Rotor Warping. Given your "new" situation ... my recommendation is to get on a safe straightaway ... get to 70 MPH and then do several panic stops to eliminate rotor glazing. Talking about the kind of panic stops that cause the ABS to activate. This will burn off the glazing that is causing the "grabbing" you describe.

You literally have to take this vehicle to steep water crossings or way off-road boulder climbs for it to encounter something it can’t handle.
That, or the reviewers who try to compare this to an European SUV in sporty driving dynamics and cabin tech. None of which are relevant to what the GX is. Also those who dwell in “the GX hasn’t changed in 10 years” this is actually of the best features of the GX.
fun fact, that reviewer has a 4Runner TRD-Off Road himself.

For those who are < 35-odd years old ... yes ... inflation does cause prices to increase ... simple economics. Just be happy any price increase is not significantly more than you described in this economy.
As far as I can tell, the BL gets the following over a premium: paint (exclusive nori green, is white a free option unlike $500 on others?), 360 camera, trims interior (dark chrome, open poor black wood, carpet mats with grey trim), and exterior (gloss black wheels, dark chrome, black painted rear spoiler, shark fin, weird pieces near the fog lights, different front and rear trims at the bottoms of the bumpers), the prado style roof rails (needs different cross bars but these are much more useful and can be used without cross bars for certain applications), standard rear carpet mat, standard key gloves, standard heated wood steering wheel, standard headlight washers.
The marketing does a pretty bad job of pointing out the differences. And not having a configurator for it (even if it is pick a color and accessories) seems like a mistake to me.
All in its $1550 of options/accessories so you are paying not all that much for the trim/roof rack on the BL. Given how much I paid for paint to sample on a Porsche to get a green one, it seemed like an ok deal to me when I thought I was paying a few grand for paint (I like green vehicles and they are hard to find).
I think the base adding heated and ventilated seats is the best bargain as you don’t get the complexity of the rear AC and you don’t really need headlight washers. You also can’t get a heated steering wheel in the base. I actually like the base wood trim the best. But finding a base is impossible.

I picked up my 2023 on Saturday after a five month wait. Coming from my 2019 I am very happy with the upgrades. Particularly the Apple Car Play and moving the heating and air controls to the dash with buttons (though I have yet to figure out how to turn the AC on from button array aside from "Auto"). Lot of little things I'm noticing that are nice that I didn't have on the 2019--tire pressure monitoring; auto high beam; better headlights, heated rear seats, etc. Another thing that was immediately noticeable is that it is noticeably quieter than the 2019--the acoustic glass makes a difference. I think they have tweaked the suspension sometime between 2019 and 2023. The 2023 is definitely smoother riding on rough pavement (I only had 20k miles on 2019 so I know it was not worn suspension).
The 2019 had the least depreciation I've experienced on any vehicle--I drove it four years and lost less than $8k.

Hey guys,
I have been on the forum for a while but GS section. I was planning to purchase one but decided to go for Kia stinger. I have a baby on the way (due in March), I am on little on blind on how my needs would change and what to look for in a vehicle depending on those. I also have BRZ which isn't very useful either. I think GX would suit my needs, I might want to tow BRZ to track in future or tow a trailer my friend has if I borrow it or get my own. I am looking to keep it as long as I can, that's why GX and not other choices. I am okay with truck like handling, I have other cars I can enjoy for spirited driving. I am a mountain biker and snowboarder. I travel a lot every year, at least 2-3 national parks by driving.
From what I looked for since yesterday1. I would like brown interior (Sepia) but all dealerships nearby has black.
2. I am torn between mica blue and atomic silver. Biased towards later.
3. I would like to have premium model with hitch, all season cargo mat and all season floor mats. Nearby cars have extra packages that I don't need.
Question
a. Are dealerships charging markups?
b. Do Lexus takes orders? If so how are wait times?
c. I am all new to having a kid and buying something like Lexus (luxury body on frame SUV), what should be in my considerations?
I don't think I will be getting out much for next 8 months till all vaccination is done. I live near Seattle WA.
