The problem continues to be the supply chain. No surprises there.
Automakers continue their recovery from the global supply chain havoc caused by the coronavirus, and Toyota, the world's biggest automaker, is not immune. Automotive News has confirmed with the Japanese automaker that it will suspend production for several popular vehicles next month because it's lacking the necessary components to build them.
The vehicles affected include the highly popular Toyota RAV4, the aging but still beloved 4Runner, and a sizable list of Lexus models, such as the GX, NX, UX, and ES.
A total of 700,000 vehicles will be built by Toyota in December, 250,000 in Japan and 500,000 at its other facilities scattered across the globe. That may sound like a lot of vehicles, but that figure has typically been around 800,000 in recent months.
A great example of the GX 460 capability and why you need the correct tires for the terrain https://youtu.be/zNQBhPjYMOY
Yeah, tires make all the difference. Earlier the video he states '3 season radials' My 2022 came with M&S rated tires, Michelins Latitude. Not winter of course, but mud and snow rated.
At 3:27 he puts in 4lo but never locks the transfer case (he say's no off road pack). The front cameras would be a welcome addition to the premium.
I’m looking to buy a new GX. Mazda customer for years. I want something that’ll last. I like the black line edition, but also the premium model. Are they selling for MSRP?
what’s you opinion in regards to the black line edition?

I was looking to get the premium model delivered, as I thought it fit my build better, was going to be a long wait, and they said there was a Nori Green coming in within a month, and no one had a pre-order on it, so I went with that, and LOVE it. Came from an '18 Tacoma and had a 2023 4Runner on order, but this is such a better truck. I got mine at MSRP, added quite a few things, so it was right under $70k, this is up in Maine.

I just picked up a 23 Black Line in LA for under MSRP. It was an auto show car and had 23 miles on it. Still considered new with full warranty. They instantly took $1000 off then I got another $1600 off due to a local dealer (Lexus of Sacramento) discounting their standing GX inventory.
Looks like they are taking $1000 off of a premium now:
I found a few Black Line Nori Green GX models in the LA area. Not sure if they are still avail. I bought mine from Glendale and I know Mission Viejo had one.
Just got my hands on the 23 Blackline. It comes with all the stuff I really need for minimal off the beaten path driving I do now. I wish it had the Multi Terrain Select, though. That's probably the biggest drawback in terms of capabilities and resale.
I can get why people are not a fan of the stone interior, but Im a big fan.
I’ve been watching some off road reviews and nearly all the hosts say you aren’t missing anything.
They pretty much all say the base model center diff setup and traction control are all you need to get through obstacles. They even prefer the non-air suspension.

In the Pacific Northwest, all the Lexus dealerships have significant required dealer installed options for the GX460 SE. They are marked up from $1K to $5K for the Nori Green and a little less for the other colors for accessories you don't need. I have a SE and like it better than my previous 2014 Luxury GX 460. In my opinion it rides better, and the stereo is fine, I wish it had the offroad package, but otherwise as good or better than the Luxury. I did not want the 19" wheels on the Luxury because of the poor tire selection for that size.

Im in the PNW as well. I can confirm this is true. All dealers are installing overpriced junk to cars to justify markup. The one in Portland is not that bad. They add a $700 GPS tracking device. They charge MSRP on GXs as they are always sold before they hit the lot. This is at about half of what they are doing in WA dealers. I believe the lowest I remember was like $1300 of junk added to vehicles.
The Lexus dealer in Eugene, Oregon does not mark up or installs junk. I would have ordered from them but they didn’t have the configuration I wanted. I decided to just bite the bullet and pay $700 extra for the GPS tracker I won’t use and get my GX before year’s end.
Does anyone who recently took delivery of a 2023 know how long it usually takes to reach the dealer after arriving at the port?
Here is the timeline for my 2022 I picked up ~3 months ago in Colorado Springs… While not a 2023 model it’s recent so there should be relevant info to glean from it. I’d estimate 4-5 weeks to reach the dealer from port arrival, depending on your location relative to the port. Hope this helps
- 5/24/2022: Production confirmed - 6/23/2022: Build date - 7/6/2022: Vessel depart - 7/20/2022: Vessel arrive - 8/2/2022: Port processing (1st notification received on app showing 52psi in tires, less than a quarter tank of gas, and 1mi. on odometer) - 8/16/2022: Rail depart (estimate based on 2nd notification received on app showing multiple doors unlocked) - 8/18/2022: Rail arrive (in Denver) - Dealer advised it takes 2 days to a week to get loaded onto the truck and delivered to Colorado Springs - 8/24/2022: Dealer arrive (multiple notifications received on app showing 32psi in tires, full tank of gas, 3mi. on odometer, and multiple doors unlocked - pre-delivery inspection being performed I presume) - 8/26/2022: Pickup from Dealer

which app ? My GX is on the way. Where do I track it ?
Download the Lexus app and input your VIN. It won’t let you track the location yet, but once it’s going through the port processing steps you should start getting alerts. Upon delivery, the dealer registers the vehicle to you on their end, and the app will gain full functionality.

interesting. Got the app and I put the vin. I don’t see anything in the vehicle status. I guess it’s not in range if ATT signal 🤷🏽♂️
