Sorry to steer this away from soldering . . . . but I'll be doing a few more LEDs

2,700k color (3,000k maximum) for the interior please ... for the reason above, plus 5,700k and above is just plain dangerous for interior lights ... contracts the pupils at night to where the driver is essentially driving blind.

Driving blind? kinda harsh analogy.

In zero light that would be a concern. Driving a vehicle you have ambient cabin lights, along with surrounding street and other vehicles lighting.

There are about 120 million rods per eye, and they are evenly distributed over the entire retina.
They “see”:
•Shape / outline
•Movement
•Direction
•Speed
•In black, grey, and white
They cannot detect anything else.
In low light situations you may develop a blind spot right in the center of your field of vision because that’s where the cone receptors are, and they need a minimum amount of light to function.

So I guess this means that from an anatomy standpoint ... Bright = Better ... and ... Brighter = Betterer

there were some studies done a few years back i remember reading showing that higher color temp actually increases visual acuity.
meaning you see better with higher color temp, and it takes more light output at lower color temp to get the same acuity as the higher color temp.
now...
this doesnt mean you always want higher color temps inside the cabin. what you install should depend on why you want the light in the cabin and when do you turn on the lights.
seeing better in the cabin might be good if parked or in the afternoon. too much light while night driving could be an issue for some.

That is correct. I was able to determine they are not replaceable. I originally searched but did not find the reference to them here- obviously my search-fu needs polishing.
