Default Techstream - Question about Java Runtime Environment

Hello Gang,

I am trying to run techstream, but I don't have a Java Runtime Environment 6 or 7 installed, and I can't seem to find where to download it from Oracle, even after joining Oracle....... it looks like it is no longer available.

Any Oracle users here or I.T. guru's help me out?

When I run techstream, and it says it is connecting with my cable, and it shows the vehicle VIN, but all of the boxes for everything is yellow, and when I try to run a test (like testing the daytime driving lights), it shows a windows error and shuts Techstream down.

Need more information to diagnose, such as windows version, OS platform, etc. As far as the JAVA runtime, I believer it is not specific to version 6 or 7, any current version and service level should be fine.

The Java Runtime is backwards compatible (more or less, but running any end user app it should be). Just download the latest released version if you don't have one.

Yeah, I am running a Panasonic Toughbook CF-30 with Windows XP 2002 SP3.

I have tried multiple times to load Java and it won’t work.

Are you performing a Techstream application install or this Virtualbox VM install?

I believe I just downloaded the latest version from java.com and it worked, but I'm also using a laptop with Windows 10.

I had a much longer version of my email that got dumped..... cliff notes - I was running a version 13.2 of Techstream that came with the Mini-VCi, but it required java runtime environment v 6 or higher, but I couldn't get java to download onto my laptop with firefox, tried opera, and it acts like it is opening, then nothing......

I deleted my version of Techstream and decided to give the Virtual Box a try. 4 hours later, I had the Techstream image downloaded with Mega and I got it uploaded to the virtual box. I set the virtual box to run as a Windows XP 32 bit machine.

I have attached images of the error I get when I try to start the Oracle Virtual Box after about 4 hours of work last night.....

I have rebooted multiple times with the same exact error message. I am usually pretty smart about this stuff, but not this time.....

Would you happen to have a Window 7, 10 or Mac OS X laptop sitting around?

Since XP support went off the radar back in April 2014 compatibility with Java and this Virtualbox could be highly doubtful. I only tested Virtualbox on a 10.13.x OS X laptop.

I think at this point the 32-bit TS installs that are being sold probably load fine with XP but I have my doubts that Virtualbox will play nicely seeing errors you are showing.

Where did you guys get the registration key from? The Ebay seller put it in the description but it doesn't work. The software ID is different so that makes sense. I reached out to the seller and all they know is what they posted. I found a registration crack that requires a download and that concerns me. I am using an old Windows 7 laptop that has no real info on it so it is an option.

I picked up a Carista the other day. Although many toyota / lexus models have TPMS support - unfortunately the GX460 is not one of them. I sent an email to the company as to when/if they plan to add TPMS support for the GX. Seems silly as it's essentially the only lexus without TPMS support. I look into toyota and the sister 4runner is one of the only Toyota models without TPMS support as well. Perhaps there's something 'unique' with our setup? Either way - it's a bummer as using the carista app is sure simple and quick.

This is an interesting Carista note here as I needed an OBD cable with K-Line support for live data using Techstream.

There is the brake bleeding option with TS

I see there are options to check on cylinder compression as well.
