Default Power steering

Hi. Bought some automatic transmission fluid. On amazon it was listed as dextron 2/3 compliant. It’s red, any concerns with mixing it with what is in the reservoir now which is more of a regular oil color? Thanks for advice!

Pic attached.

It should be red when new and as it ages, it will turn dark. You can do the turkey baster method and pull it out of the reservoir but that will take a long time to really get it clean again. I did it that way and results were meh. I'm going to redo it and pull the return line to quickly purge all the fluid and then refill with fresh fluid.

I did get mine back to red but it wasn't really that dark to start with. I will have to look back...can't remember if I used 2 quarts of AT fluid but like Romanova said it did take a while. I would usually extract and fill after every drive. If I did turkey baster method again I would probably slightly lift the front end so wheels could easily turn and then proceed to extract, fill, start vehicle and turn rack left and right, stop extract, fill, repeat.

I'm not sure how easy the system is to purge air bubbles on a completely drain. It may be a moot concern though.

Sorry forgot to mention. I am just topping off, not replacing. Thanks for confirming that adding red atf is ok.
