#Wind #Noise
Ordered an aftermarket rooftop basket on eBay and had noticeable wind noise when driving around 65. Oem cross bar, no noise at all. The basket does come with a fairing(will hear whistling w/o fairing).
any idea to solve, minimize? Any noise if use roof rack? Thanks.

I found the best way to keep the sound down is not to have the rack on the car, just the rails. Put it on when you need it, it only takes a few minutes.
hi, I am new to this forum and would like to get some help on a wind noise issue with my 2018 GX 460.
I bought my GX 460 last Friday and I drove her out of the dealer’s lot. My wife was sitting on a driver side rear seat with my daughter sitting next to her. Few minutes after, my wife told me that there was a wind noise in the back while car was moving and that it was very loud annoying noise. Then, I asked my wife to drive and I sat on her seat to see where the noise coming from. I thought window was open slightly but all the window were completely closed. It happened to be from the rear seat belt chime. I went right into the service department and had this service advisor sitting on thr rear seat. He also noticed the wind noise coming from the seat belt pillar. On the first day I bought my car I put it in for service. Next day I got a text from the service advisor saying a diagnose specialist went on a test drive my GX and noticed the same issue. Then he drove another GX in a lot and had the same. So he concluded that the wind noise is s normal characteristic of the vehicle. Really?? Lexus makes a car like that as a normal characteriatic? I could not believe what I heard from him and I myself went into another lexus dealer to see if his statement was right.
i test drove two GXs and there was no wind noise issue from the seat belt.
I dont know if any of you has the same issue. I am just frustrated. Is it really a norm to GX?
please help.

No, interior wind noise is not a problem that I recall seeing here over the years. Exterior mods causing wind noise yes. Just a thought, do you have the 3rd zone climate system? have you shut off the air system and tried recirculate instead of fresh air?
I do not understand how the diagnose specialist said it is normal to GX.
If it is normal, no one would want to buy GX.
Since it is on the very first day I bought the car, is it any way for me to just return and get refund? I am getting stressed out of it.

Do you have the cross bars by chance? I haven't heard of this issue before. You mentioned that he test drove one on the lot and he said it had the same noise, did you also sit in it and experienced the same thing? Since you tested yourself and didn't hear noise from another dealer, can you re-test drive another GX on your dealer's lot?
Also check the roof rail see if there's any gaps or if it is loose.

Maybe test drive another GX on the dealers lot that does not have this problem to prove to them that it is not normal. Deal with the same service adviser that is familiar and admits to hearing your problem.
Good luck...
