It depends on what you wrote the input trigger to. There’s an individual wire for the driver door, a wire that covers all doors (domelight), and a separate wire for rear tail gate. The issue with plug and play units are they are already prewired and don’t give you the option. I’m working with a remote start right to to figure out the bypass to engine shutdown while driver door opens.

I drive the gx more with a new job position and use the app to start the truck while driving the work vehicle to the parking lot. I got to thinking tonight I wonder if the key fob will start the truck. Sure enough two presses and a third press and hold the damn thing started. We have owned this truck for 3 years. I have always used the app to start it when it cold out and want to warm ip the engine a little before driving. The fob will only work with the inform subscription correct? We have a 2019 premium.

2 weeks ago I purchased a 2019 Luxury. I don't have a subscription or app and my key fob starts the rig. Looking at it out the kitchen window with the shade up it starts. Only runs for 10 minutes but you can restart it one time after that for a total of 20 minutes. Had a Viper then a Compustar remote in my Taco. Range on the 460 fob isn't great but for 95% of the time works for my needs. Finally a truck I didn't have to pay for a remote start, I'm pleased.

will probably need a transistor or relay to the ecu so it doesnt detect the open door. i forget if the switch opens or closes, but i think it was on the neg side at the ecu.

I tried looking through the 20 pages about remote start and the models that have it. I’m sure I missed the answer to my question. We have a 2019 premium, do I have to have the paid subscription to remote start the truck with a key fob? The 3 presses on the fob startes the truck, but if I don’t the subscription I would like to cancel.

See my reply above. But there are many posts around the internet about it. Seems like 2019 and newer you do not have to have a subscription to remote start using the fob. According to the Lexus website one page pdf Key FOB remote start document you do not need the subscription and it is good for 10 years.

On 2015 and newer Lexus vehicles equipped with Enform Remote, use your SmartAccess key fob to start your engine so your Lexus can warm up in the winter, or cool down in the summer, all before arriving to your vehicle. Enjoy this convenience included for 10 years on 2018 and later models (excluding the 2018 GX).

2019+ GX and newer have 4G Enform. Prior to that the GX was 3G which was phased out on Oct. 31 of this year. Seems like just yesterday my Viper remote paid service on the Taco died because 2G was phased out. And I didn't want to pay for the upgrade on the installed device in the truck.

I used the key fob to remote start my 2019 again today and do not have a subscription. However that is not to say that the previous owner didn't purchase an annual subscription at the beginning of his last year of his 4 year lease. It has 2 months left on the factory warranty so a possibility. If it was me I'd cancel and see if it still works it should according to the document I linked above. In my case if it doesn't then I am going back to Compustar.

Even with Compustar remote start touching the door handle will kill the engine:

There is no Secure Takeover for your vehicle.

For select vehicles, such as certain (not all) Toyota and Lexus models, there is no Secure Takeover procedure available for those vehicles. Thus, 100% of the time that a vehicle is remote started, the engine will shut off as soon as a door is opened. This is to ensure the complete safety of your vehicle.

But I bet they can set the runtime to 20 minutes instead of the default 10 minutes that the factory does. For those twenties below zero days.

10-15 Remote start on 460 uses same hardware

Enform remote started in 2016 on the 460

‘16-‘18 460 are not included in the 10 year local FOB functionality
