Can anyone with the Prado setup compare? Do the OEM crossbars work with the Prado rack?
what roof rack did you install from a 4R? Have any picks or a write up? I’m trying to see if the width is the same as a GX. Trying to fit a 4R pro basket onto my GX but unsure if it’s too wide or not. Thanks in advance.

Default Upgraded 2017 GX460 roof rails with Toyota Landcruiser Prado rails

I just successfully upgraded my 2017 GX460 roof rails with Toyota Landcruiser Prado rails. I worked with Dave from Japan4x4 and he ordered all the parts needed for a complete conversion. The install was smooth and quick due to Jackets detailed instructions. Thank you Jacket. Below are a few pictures of my GX460 with the new rails. Also, the GX470 rails are NOT the same as the Toyota Landcruiser Prado rails. Dave sent me diagrams and I decided to go with the Prado rails since they were guaranteed to fit. Trying to go with GX470 rails was too risky for me.

What was your all-in price for the Prado rails?

My all in cost was $788 minus shipping. This includes all the moldings as well. Every part purchased was installed and nothing was leftover as extra parts. Well worth converting the rails to allow me to carry my recreational equipment. Much cheaper than brand new GX470 rails from Lexus that may not fit.

Default Yakima rocket box??

I am hoping to use a Yakima rocket box from college on top of my 2015 Lexus GX460. I have flush-mount side rails and do not have the factory crossbars. Has anyone simply used the Yakima Ridgeline Towers fastened to the flush mount side rails to mount a Yakima roof storage box? Evidently, the towers are 5.25" tall. I think this approach would allow me to clear the shark fin antenna. I love what Jacket and others have done to upfit their trucks, but I'm not confident enough to attempt anything like that! This mom just needs a suitable option that can be mounted and removed as needed for trips. Would love any feedback...thanks!

I have the Ridgeline towers, aero bars and a Thule box and it all works well.. plenty of clearance.. the rail clips are a little challenging to get adjusted but they work just fine.

It looks like the 2022 Lexus GX has the prado rails on the black line special edition. This means you should be able to buy them from US Lexus dealers instead of going international for the prado ones.

Here is close up photo of the stock rails on my 22 GX Black Line. I wonder what the weight limit is. I suspect a limit of about 150 pounds dynamic, static would be significantly higher. I have a roof top tent (130 pounds) which mounts on a Baja rack (40 pounds) that will be mounted to the rails. I've had this setup on the 5th gen 4runner rails but would not do any radical off roading since the stock rail mounts are cast aluminum. I have steel mounts for the Baja rack that replace the rails on the 5th gen and another set for the 3rd gen 4r to carry the setup for when I am going somewhere extreme. I can have another set of steel mounts fabricated for the GX but I would prefer to not have to take the rails off the GX. Since each GX rail is mounted on three points I might be able to mount the tent directly on the rails.
Cross bars are available from Lexus as an option for the Black Line priced around 400$. I'll wait until I think I need them.

Green Black Line with stock roof rails.

I cheaped out and got Fleabay ones....$184. Pleasantly surprised...they exceeded my expectations!

Decent quality and strength. I had no reservations about mounting my tent directing to them, just had to rotate rails on bottom of tent 90°.

However, if I had known of Blackline trim OEM option for $400, I might have opted for those.

They look good, curious to know or compare the strength to OEM.
The $400 is just for the Blackline crossbars, does not include the roof rails.

The Rails/Tent look good. I bet the Rails from Lexus would run up as high as 1000$ if bought at the parts counter so if the 184$ rails fit that's the way to go. The 4r rims look good on your GX. A Local dealer was selling the same stock rim and tires (new-take-offs) for 500$ a set. I bought 4 sets since all toyota trucks have the same rim offset, the price was cheaper than the tires alone and I had several trucks to use them on. What size tire are you running on that rim?

That's a great take-off deal you got. I was looking for a similar deal, but couldn't find one at time. So I took bare 4Runner rims and used these Cooper Discoverers 265/70R17, which I have been happy with. Unfortunately, final cost was much more than $500........

I was really pleased with the ebay rails and would recommend them....even if you're not cheap.

I bought a 2022 GX blackline, but I'm also looking for the "blackline crossbars". These extend past the roof rails by a few inches.

I can't seem to find the part number for these crossbars.

I found a dealer who had the crossbars already installed.
JTJKM7BX4N5305671
Blackline Cross Bars 405.00

@NiteDipper Do you know where these cross bars can be purchased?

My dealer gave me PN PZQ30-60205 for Blackline cross bars.
