I was watching a video and left the emergency brake on and when put in drive a was ready the move, a warning light/buzzer came on and the display said the E-brake was on. My IS has no warning.

Yes, it's a nice redundancy to have over and above the tiny red "BRAKE" light on the dashboard that is easy to miss. GS had this, and it was very handy as the E-brake was not particularly strong, so it was very, very easy to drive off with it engaged. LX has it too.
This feature is much appreciated. I still park the "old-fashioned way" ... put the transmission in Neutral, firmly set the Emergency/Parking brake, take my foot off the brake pedal so the drivetrain is unloaded and the E/P brake holds the vehicle, shift into Park and turn off the engine. Yes, it's a lot to do, but it is easier to do it than to unlearn it!
Anyway, on more than one occasion when I restarted, I drove off with the Emergency/Parking brake set. With all the torque the GX 460 produces it has no trouble overpowering the E/P brake. Where it not for that warning, I might have caused some damage!
Regards,
I don't think it happens when you go in reverse. I have left the e-brake on while going in reverse and didn't hear anything! It only happens while driving forward I guess.
