Default Shuts off at 110

Is it seriously governed at 110 i wanted to see what it really had and it shuts me down at 110 its a pain in the ****! Is there a way to get that taken off? That bothers me. I never had a vehicle nor a lexus that governed me so low. Anyone else have this problem? But my god as i'm gliding at 109 it feels like butter. EXCELLENT handling at high speeds! I wonder what the top speed really is.
hmm

Hmmm... I'm sure that you were doing this on a closed test track and not I95... The LX570 is limited to 137, so... If Lexus made a GX570, I would say atleast 137. The LX570 makes 82 more HP and 74 more tq and only weighs an additional 655 lbs. How long did it take to get to 110? The GX460 has a power to weight ratio of 17.75:1 while the LX570 is 15.65:1. How strong was it pulling between 105 and 110?

Per the specifications on the Lexus website, the GX470 is electronically limited to 112 mph and the GX460 to 110 mph. The LX470 was also electronically limited to 112 mph.

The reason Lexus limits these cars is because the tires are S rated which is for 112mph. If you go over that they will probably blow out on you and you probably know what happens from there.

My cars max speed is 136 and the tires are rated for 149. The tires really limit what you can do.

It's a legal issue with the tires. If the OEM tires are only safety certified for 110, then you get a computer controlled 110mph speed limit. It's like that on pretty much every car made today that has an engine capable of exceeding the OEM tires' speed rating.

The only way Lexus could have been legally safe in giving you a 130 mph limit (and that's probably about what the GX460 will top out anyway regardless of electronic limiters) is by putting sportier tires on which would likely compromise some combination of comfort, noise, tread life, etc.

Power to weight ratio makes almost no impact on top speed and makes very little difference in higher speed acceleration where wind resistance is the far more limiting factor.
