Just recently the voice to text function on our 23 GX stopped working and we’re getting this error. It does work when connect via usb and using Apple Car Play.
All other voice functions such as changing the radio and making calls are working. Only the speech to text gives us an error. I’ve also disconnected the battery for approximately 10 minutes but that didn’t help either. Checked for updates on the infotainment and it say’s it’s up to date. Turned off the iPhone and back on as well as tried another iPhone but nothing works. This just started today. All subsriptions are up to date. Does anyone know the fix or having the same issue?
I am getting the exact same error on my 2019 ES. It started EXACTLY 6 years after the purchase date of the car, which makes me very suspicious. I have tried everything that you mentioned and the issue is not resolved. If you have any info on how to resolve this issue I would appreciate the info. Thank you.

Outside of the Lexus audio system - Possibly something with Apple Intelligence? I know Apple Intelligence grossly slows-down Text-to-Speech via Siri, and I disabled AI+Siri the first few days I had it as it made TTS painfully slow. Might need an iOS reboot after disabling AI+Siri integration to see the benefit.

Or maybe it's something else altogether
Could be a possibility, but even people who have brand new phones are having this issue. What is weird is that one day everything was working like it should and the next day, it does not.

I also have a "Brand new phone" (16 pro max) and iOS 18.3 and AI + Siri integration made TTS unacceptably and frustratingly slow. I'd look towards Apple more than Lexus on this one, as Apple is changing frequently - Lexus software not so much.
Maybe the added AI/Siri/TTS delay is causing CarPlay/Lexus to time-out while waiting for the response? I "timed out" with personal frustration and disabled that Apple AI garbage

Its worth a shot. How do I disable these things you are noting? Would this make sense even if all other features related to the mic are working with the exception of the speech to text? The error we get is immediate, and does not appear to be timing out.
Settings > "Apple Intelligence & Siri" and turn it off. I think you have to dig in a bit more to make sure it's actually off (Chat GPT integrations and stuff). I did this on mine a few days after iOS 18.3 and AI came out. I use TTS all the time for work and recreation - and it was angering to use after the 18.3 AI update - so I could see 3rd party apps having issues with it too. Hoping it's that simple !
Oh - one more suggestion - if you haven't restarted your iPhone lately also try that. Mine will sometimes get hung-up and the "beep" after hitting the Mic icon would not work - ergo no TTS functionality either (striaght phone w/o CarPlay). I think mine gets hung-up on a BT headset that confuses it, and only a restart will resolve it.
Update:
Typically I only drive my truck on the weekends and my wife only drives the GX a couple days out of the week. Occasionally it is more often.
Last Friday I took my wife to dinner in my truck and we tried to respond to a text by using the dictation and all worked like normal.
We then took her GX out all day Saturday and it also worked like normal.
I have no idea weather the Vehicles updated or the phones did, but whatever happened, fixed the issue.
I tried mine and it also worked fine now. I believe that it was an IOS update (IOS 18.3.2) that resolved the issue, because I don't see that an update was just installed on my Lexus.
