Default Key Fob Battery

How often should you change the battery in your key fob? Does the GX have a warning light when the battery needs replacing?

The manual has a specific time frame but the vehicle will warn you in the mid.

My 2017 Premium uses a CR1632 - a smaller diameter than 2016/2032. Your '22 might be different as I recall my GF's 2021 NX uses a CR2032.

2020+ went to the LC style remote with 2032. The battery access cover might be different though on the 23s but the remote design is the same externally. as the 20+.

Not to change the subject but today I took my GX in for a 20K service and my vehicle battery needed replacement. Dealer replaced with a new battery under warranty. I will probably go ahead and replace the key fob battery even though I have not gotten a dash message to do so.

Be certain to move the fob(s) more than three (3) feet from the car while parked and shut off. If the fob is within the sensor range, it will continue to communicate, and the fob battery will deplete very quickly.

If you rely on one keyfob, put the other one into deep sleep.

How do you put the spare in deep sleep?

The keyfob shown does not have the easy shut down feature but the newer "squarer" style does.
With those, you can press and hold the "lock" button and while holding you then press the "unlock" button twice.
The small red guide light will then blink four (4) times, and the fob is now deactivated.
Useful if you intend to leave the car and engage in activities that a $350, non-waterproof and heavy fob would interfere with.
Biking, hiking, canoeing, swimming...
If you stand outside the car with the door open and use that technique and then slide the mechanical key out of the fob,
you can then place the fob out of sight inside the car and close the locked door. Take the light and waterproof key with you
and when you get back, use it in the driver's door key cylinder. Recover the fob and press and button to wake it up.
Note: many newer Lexi have a Very inconvenient key cylinder cover that makes this previously simple operation a B*!*h!
