Default 2014 GX Screen Failure..

Howdy,
The screen in my 2014 GX went dark all of a sudden. Backup camera works, but that's about it. No radio, No climate control, No navigation. Total darkness!
When I turn on the vehicle lights (any position), I notice the lights around the switches below the screen keep flashing at a constant rate. See my video below

I spent a good part a day reading everything I could get my hands on about similar screen problems with Lexus. Apparently happens mostly in GX and RX. But there was not a single solution mentioned, other than "take it to the dealer" which entails buying a new unit.

So, I'm just checking to see if there is any update to sort out this issue, and if buying a new (or used) unit is the only current solution?

Cheers,

I'm just curious what could be wrong in the unit that cannot be repaired? What usually fails?
And if it cannot be repaired, will you credit the $999 repair fee towards a new unit, if I purchased one from you?

Cheers,

I don't recall seeing that specific #infotainment failure thread in regards to the #flickering

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gx-...s-updates.html

There are some #diagnostics but not much help with the screen not working

Thanks Acrad,
Yes, I read a multitude of posts related to the screen going blank but no one mentioned the lights around the switches flickering. As I wrote, this only happens when the vehicle lights are turned on. really weird!
The hunt continues...

On a related note, with a dead screen, is there any other way to control the AC functions other than "AUTO"?
Cheers

After some searching, I found a complete entertainment+Nav+screen unit for sale but it is from a 2018 model (mine is 2014).
Before I purchase it, I am wondering Will this 2018 model work in my truck?

I vaguely recall something was changed from 2015 onward that requires Lexus subscription, but don't remember what exactly.

Have you considered a updated replacement head unit?

There are few companies who make them

Hi, yes I looked into the Tesla style units but they all come from China and the reviews have been spotty to say the least..

Besides, several models don't 100% integrate with factory accessories, I read reviews that some don't work with the factory backup camera or don't respond to the steering wheel controls.

From what I read, if you buy the units which only replaces the original screen, then yes, the system need to be in working condition for these to operate
But if you get the Tesla style unit, it replaces everything and will work even if the original system is broken (which will be removed anyway)

UPDATE:
I purchased the Nav/CD unit from the 2018 model. Installed it in my 2014 and all works well. No issues so far..
If it makes an difference, the new system has a face number "100514", and is NOT a Mark Levinson unit. My older system was Mark Levinson and had a different face number.
