Default Endless brake pads

So finished up my brake pad slap...that turned into stainless lines, fancy pads and high temp brake fluid.

notes: on a 2022, oem pads are friction code gf up front, EE in the back. Rear pads were stamped Akebono, front stamped Lexus.

initially just put TRD pro pads up front. Friction code FG. Bedded them IAW the manual. Very solid improvement in initial bite.

then my endless pads finally showed up....

EP-257-sss for the rear, ep-413-ssy for the front.

I swapped the rears and have been extremely impressed by their performance. Although rears don't do as much work as the front, these seem to have provided as much of an improvement in the overall breaking system performance as going from oem pads to the front Trd pro pads.

now debating whether or not to pull the front trd pro pads off, even though they've only got 500 miles on them lol.

2019 GX460 ... original rear pads were down to the backing plate in 30,000 miles ... fronts the same at 35,000 miles ... what's wrong with this picture ? ... always got 80,000+ miles from the rears ... GX470 ... four 4Runners and an FJ Cruiser ... with fronts on all between 35-40,000 miles. What is Lexus doing with pad material these days ?

fronts had JUST started to squeal, so not down to the backing plate. Rears were fine, probably would've been good to 60+, but I was excited for the new pads.

I drive in a lot of stop and go, so not super gentle on the brakes. If you are getting 35-40 on a 4 runner or FJ, that seems to translate well to getting 30 ish on a heavier GX.

depending on what fluid you used... 'high temp brake fluid' was a bad move for a daily driven non-track vehicle

Agree on the Fronts ... but the Rears at 30,000 miles ? ... that is insane when 80+% of braking is from the Fronts.

Huh ... What ?

DOT 3-4 fluid is recommended (ideally DOT 4 given the higher temperature rating) ... so if you are referencing DOT 5 (silicone) fluid ... it is absolutely NOT compatible ... and what does this have to do with brake pad wear anyway ?

I had referenced a fluid flush earlier. I used castrol SRF which is dot 4, and comes as the OEM fluid in a few different high performance cars.

regarding rears, no disagreement that the pads were fine @30k. I had the endless pads on hand and wanted to experiment. Very happy with the bite on them.

Dot4 fluids have higher max temp, but absorb moisture faster. They higher max temp is useless pretty useless because your brake temps shouldn’t be getting that high. Temp only get that high if you’re doing lapping sessions on a track.

it sounds like you have money to burn if you’re using SRF @~$60/ bottle and endless branded brake pads.

The net increase in cost for those two items is over OEM parts is about $50 in total so Im not really sure what your point is.

I'm glad you've never overheated brakes while towing... but it happens.
