SAT Radio Issue
SAT radio on my '13 GX often gets stuck on '000'. I had dealer 'reboot' and it worked for a few months but issue popping up again. Dealer says next thing to do is replace radio and has ordered new one to replace ours. I don't care that much but figure it might be symptom of larger pending head unit failure. I will follow up with price etc when it comes in and they do the work.

Not a commonly reported issue on the 460 anyway.. most hits are on other automaker that reboot the head unit. I carried SAT for a while but performance in the mountains had too many cutouts to my liking.
I don't recall if there is a reboot sequence on 10-13 models unlike '14+ which will restart with holding in the power button. I doubled check on my '12 and that didn't do anything.
You'd probably have to temp disconnect the battery or pull the associated fuses for the head unit.

Dealer is just going to replace it I guess. Not really sure what exactly will get replaced. I am assuming the entire radio will need to get swapped out but I will report back when I bring it in (I got a VSA on the CPO so even thought it is a '13 it is still under warranty).
Years back my Infiniti Elite warranty I purchased just prior to factory bumper-to-bumper expiring took me out to 11 years (purchased the car new ('07 G35x)).... it paid for itself though.. $1800... $7-8K in repairs that were covered.
Whenever you have XM Radio problems. The first thing to do is a refresh

Another 1.5 years. My GX, while a '13 was made/purchased in Dec 12. So when I bought it it was already 6 y & 8 months old. It was a CPO - so I had 2 years under that which took it to 8y 8months of age. I averaged both CPO warranty and out of warranty spend over my previous two other CPO Lexus ('02 RX300 and my '07 IS250 which I still drive - both were back when CPO was 3 year / 100k miles) out to 11 year 8 months of age and used that to decide to buy the 3 years VSA extension of the CPO on the GX.
Dealer swapped out the radio. It was about $1,200 for parts and labor under the warranty pricing. Prob be closer to $1,500 or so if not under warranty with markup. It was of course no charge to me. I will check to see if it fixed. Of course, I don't really care that much, eps since I am thinking of getting rid of Sat radio since it is a rip off but since it was free (well, other than my time at the dealer for half a day), I got it fixed.

Eh, it depends on the price and your risk profile. I can def see not getting one as well. I paid to extend my 2 year CPO three more years based on the costs on my past two Lexus at years 9-12 of age of car (I have bought all three at 6 years old). I still have almost a year and half left but I wouldn't be surprised if I don't hit the cost of it, but it will have been worth it to keep me not worrying about it the 5 years, and then after that I will care less anyway.

If you just have a basic ES. You might not end up using it. But if you have a car with all the bells and whistles. You can almost guarantee that something will break. And if it does, it won't be cheap.
