Unhappy Cluster Removal and instrument bulb replacement

Hello,

I am trying to find instructions to remove the instrument panel (cluster) of my ´04 GX470. Two bulbs have come out and now is too annoying to even reed the speedometer at night. Has anyone had the same problem? In there any instructions or DIY walkthrough to remove the cluster?

Thanks a lot in advance!

Thanks! I was afraid that (as I've read in other post) the whole dashboard needed to be removed. Has anyone actually tried this in a first gen GX?

Thanks again!

I just removed my cluster on a 04. Pretty easy. 1 screw at bottom of steering column. Turn wheel to right, 1 screw visible there. Turn wheel left, 1 screw visable there. Should be able to remove shroud around wheel now. Then remove panel at bottom of cluster and both screws on each side bottom of cluster. Then 2 screws holding it in at top of cluster. The hardest part was realizing that the wiring harness didn't come out by pressing together. Instead their is a couple screw handles right behind the harness that you simply unscrew by hand and they popped off. Sorry hard to explain all this but its pretty easy. Hoping to find out why my fuel gauge and Speedo only work sometimes myself. Good luck.

The motors are bad. You can send it in for repair or buy replacement motors here:

Do you offer instructions on the install? I have a soldering gun.

Hi there,

I'm having problems trying to remove the cluster in my '04 GX470. Do you know how many screws I need to find in order to safely remove it? Following your instructions I count 2 (each side of the steering wheel), remove he plastic part around the wheel, and then 2 screws at the bottom of cluster, and 2 at the top. Is that correct?

Thanks a lot in advance!

Sorry, Don't have the truck anymore and can't remember. Maybe youtube? I did have 2 step motors replaced on the board and it fixed the issue.

Thanks. Yeah. I'll figure it out. I just wanted to know if you remember it being complicated or not. I need to replace the whole cluster cover (cracked).

Thanks again!
