Default Removing guage cluster

I searched and didn't come up with any great writeups on this. How do you remove the entire guage cluster so i can play with the lights. It is a 96 SC300. Thanks for the help

I searched "cluster removing" in the SC3/400 forum and came across several. They may not be "great" but certainly adequate for the task.

This one worked for me:

Default Tutorial on Removal of Instrument Cluster

Here's a tutorial I found very useful for removing the instrument cluster. It includes several photos.

http://www.lexuspros.com/tutorial7.htm

The hardest part was the first step. It was very difficult to get a good grip on the dimmer console. I eventually had to gently pry it out a bit with a screwdriver, while trying hard to not leave any visible dings.

Also, take care not to drop any of the four screws holding the instrument panel, like I did. Never found that sucker, either.

Good luck!

Before you start tugging on the dimmer console/panel make sure to lay a towel over the exposed gears of the steering column. Reason being is when the dimmer panel does eventually pop free it'll bounce back and hit those gears and scratch up the panel, along with your hand most likely. Just do like I said and lay a towel over the gears before you yank out the panel. Good luck
