Default Value of KDSS

We have been looking at the second gen GX to replace our current first gen. Other day, I took our truck with us on the car hunting trip, and to my surprise, the dealer hadn't heard of the first gen with a KDSS Granted this was a non lexus dealer however the "pricing tools" that the dealers use should have KDSS as an option....correct? What is the value of KDSS, in your all opinion, I should add if decide to sell or trade-in the truck? I believe y'all should know the value of KDSS as it was here that I first heard about it

Thanks and Cheers!

Look at Edmunds TMV and KBB to get the value. You might get a rough estimate from one of us, but if you're looking to trade in or sell, I recommend you print the values each of the websites show you so the dealer doesn't short change you.

Thanks. I tried KBB and the numbers do not change with or without the sports package (KDSS was part of this package, originally). Edmunds does not even list this as a package.

KDSS was a very rare option and from what I've seen, most non-Lexus car dealers haven't the foggiest idea what it is, what it's worth, or how to determine whether a first-gen GX has it or not. Most wrongly believe that the air suspension is KDSS if they know anything at all.

From what Ive seen before I bought my GX, Id say at the MOST its worth an extra $1000. Trade-in at a dealer, I doubt they care. Your best bet would be to sell it outright to someone who knows about the KDSS so they can justify paying more for yours as opposed to a GX without it.

It is definitely a rare and valuable option, but I think you are going to have to find the right buyer to get your money's worth.

Throughout this forum, we have seen people travel across the US to find a GX with KDSS. Then again, there are those that didn't notice their truck had it until they got home from the dealer.

a client of mine has the kdss package on her 08 or 09 gx470 and she didn't even know about it until i pointed it out to her... she said she just went in the showroom and was shown a white fully option sport model and she went for it... so i guess most people associate sportiness and going fast with coupes and not a med size suv...

There is always a low ROI on the options that one pays for when buying a new car.
KDSS is no exception - the price difference will be insignificant.

I agree for an option like ML audio or a NAV which can be substituted or even upgraded at a later point. However, I disagree extending this comment to an option like KDSS which inherently makes the handling much better on paved roads and is a dream to have if one wants to venture on off-roads One cannot install this (best as I know) on a GX that does not have it.....one just learns to live without it. I test drove several trucks and must have searched for 2 months till I found this feature.....and I can say it was worth it.

I will probably use the original sticker as a guide that I got with the truck, as well as the KBB or NADA tools, to price the truck fairly when I put it up for sale.

Thanks for input. Keep it coming.
Cheers.
