Default Front License Plate BRACKET????

I bought my GX470 from Florida and no front liccense plate was required in Florida so no bracket was with the GX. my question is does the GX470 come with or supposed to have a front plate bracket that goes behind the license plate when it is mounted, I live in Maryland and yes as stupid as it is i need to have a front plate on around ehre, been a year without having one on there but for some reason they seem to be cracking down on this law as not only did my GX470 get me pulled over but my BMW E39 that i ahve no had a plate on for 4 years did within 4 weeks of each other, Ughhhhhhhhh?

iI am guessing the dealer is best place to get one and does anyone have the part # or a better (cheaper) place then the dealer to get this part?

if it doesn't come with a bracket then what does it just screw into the bumper/valence?

I notice there are no holes in my bumper for the screws to mount.

what up?

thx
dan

You can get a license plate mount at the dealer. You can look for one on Ebay. You can also get a universal one at any auto parts store. You should see two indentations on the bumper where the screws are supposed to be drilled. They are very subtle and hard to spot, but they are there.
You might also want to try 3M tape on the plate or zip ties to your lower grille if you do not want to drill into the bumper.

Default Same Dilemma PA to NJ

I had the same dilemma due to my GX being from PA. I just drilled small pilots and then used stainless steel screws. I was not too worried about drilling into the bumper since NJ requires a front license plate.

That is what the dealer does, there is not a front license plate bracket part for the GX. In Missouri we too must have a worthless front plate, it was hard watching them drill 2 holes in the front bumper! With all the cost savings going on I am suprised they do not elimate the front license plate.

Front license plates are a money generator in VA... the Troopers are taught to use them as targets for their laser guns... thus, mandatory front plate in VA!

The guys at my dealer just used a phillips head screwdriver head in a electric drill to make the hole! The whole plastic bumper was kind of pushed in while they were doing it, since they had to apply pressure because they weren't using a real drill bit.

I was not happy! I could feel the GX's pain.

That sounds like a good idea, do you have any pics of the bracket on your GX to share? I would like to see them.

Default Maybe not but I'd imagine it protects the bumper from getting

all scratched up from the plate laying against it.

I haven't installed it yet...
I've been lazy... still have dealer plate on my car...
I sure you could also use ES or RX mount... those are full size brackets.
I ordered this one because I just liked what I see on my GS...
I didn't want a huge black plastic thing in the front.

By using a bracket, you will end up with FOUR holes in your bumper instead of two. When installing the License Plate on the bracket, if you don't have very short screws, the screw will make another hole in the bumper.

Default Holes or Scratches, which is the lesser of 2 evils

is what u need to ask yourself. for me the holes are something i would rather live with then scratches from my plate digging into the bumper or sliding around after mounting and driving.

basically what sux is the fact we have to have a front plate which makes no sense wahtsoever.
