By using a bracket, you will end up with FOUR holes in your bumper instead of two. When installing the License Plate on the bracket, if you don't have very short screws, the screw will make another hole in the bumper.

The dealer just supplied me with their basic cheap plastic bracket when they installed the plate. I don't use the bottom holes in the front or back, as neither would fit without damaging the bumper. It seems to be pretty stable.
The front plate on my old SUV was a whole contraption sized to fit the curve of the bumper, complete with special rivets. It worked out nicely because it provided a front bumper which took the brunt of things like my garage wall. I had to replace it once, but it was only a few bucks for the part and a hassle to install because I didn't have the specialized plastic rivet tool. (I think I wound up buying plastic nuts and bolts).
I haven't installed it yet... I've been lazy... still have dealer plate on my car... I sure you could also use ES or RX mount... those are full size brackets. I ordered this one because I just liked what I see on my GS... I didn't want a huge black plastic thing in the front.

This is what your GS will probably look like if you ever take the bracket off.
To prevent the plate and frame from being pushed into the bumper by the guy in front of you trying to parallel park, put 1/4 or 3/8 inch thick plastic spacers on the mounting screws into the bumper.
I also used mounting screws on the bottom to ensure uniform distance from the bumper and no possible viabration. This whole procedure was done over the previously installed 3M Invisable Bra. I also used a very nice looking license plate frame and my GX said it didn't mind the extra two holes drilled into it.

P.S. Issue: Holes showing after front plate is no longer needed.
How many times do you move between states with and without front plate?
