Default Windshield washer not working properly

Hi all,

My wife's 04 GX470 driver side washer nozzle has nothing coming out of it and the passenger side appears to be about 50% pressure. The rear works as normal,

I am thinking this is either a blockage or the pump is getting weak and dying out?

Anyone else had this issue?

Thanks

Assuming you're in Canada, are you using winter rated washer fluid? Even if you added winter fluid in the fall but didn't use the system to circulate it through the lines, there could be frozen fluid in the lines/nozzles.

Yes I'm in Canada. I did think of that but she parks it in the garage where it is above freezing and lately it has been above freezing outside. I'm going to dig into this further today. Maybe disconnect the line where it enters the hood from the passenger side and blow compressed air into the line to see if it goes through.

You could also just try disconnecting the line at the nozzle and seeing if it pushes fluid through the hose, then at least you'd narrow it to the nozzle itself, or if there was an issue upstream. I'd be careful with blowing compressed air through the lines, I'd imagine there's some sort of check valve at the pump that could be damaged.

There's only one hose to run both, so having nothing (or a dribble) from one and 50% from the other would indicate to me that it's upstream of the nozzles.
Or, both nozzles are clogged to different degrees.

Disconnect the hose from one of the nozzles and get a helper to turn the washer on. Good pressure would indicate bad nozzles. Weak pressure would point to a bad pump, a kink in the hose, or blockage.
Don't forget to hold the hood so the wiper arms won't hit it.

Default Fixed

So I fixed it........but it wasn't how I wanted to.
Turns out that the driver side hose came off most likely from a recent car wash where when you exit it throws a tornado on the vehicle to dry it.
The plastic parts that hold the hood insulation broke, then upon discovering the hose was off the nozzle, there is virtually no way of putting it back on !!!
The fix was to unfortunately cut a hole in the insulation allowing for access to put the hose back on. Otherwise I would have had to break every plastic part to remove the hood insulation.
So if it happens again I now have a flap in the insulation to gain access to the hose and nozzle.

Not so happy about it but it works 100% again.

Fixed is good, too bad about your insulation, but it looks like you did a pretty neat job of it all the same.
