On our 2008 Gx470, the AC plug receptacle cover won’t close. Above is a pic of one for sale that I found for reference. I’m hoping there’s an easy trick to keep it closed, because it’s driving my wife crazy. Worst case, I’ll just go out and buy a replacement assembly.
Remove it from the dash and see if you can figure out why it's binding, there's a good chance it can be fixed easily. It's not a common failure point though, I've never seen it before.
I had the same problem, cleaned it up good and sprayed some silicone lubricant and it closed, but every instance of the problem is different. Good luck, looks like you took it apart already, see if you can find the part online at discountpartsmonster.com

Original post says they just found the pic online, but the 1st step is pulling it out and seeing what the problem is, could just be something jammed in there.
Be careful when removing the wood trim. You want to pull it straight back (parallel with the ground) otherwise you'll break a clip and have to superglue it back.
Update I “fixed” it! I sprayed some WD40 on it and opened and closed it several times. Tried closing it while apply pressure in different directions. Finally when I pushed the cover towards the left while closing it, it stayed in place.
