Hey guys new member here. I have a 2008 GX470. I had a mechanic take apart the top end to do head gaskets. He flaked on me and I've been left to clean up the mess w the help of a friend. I had the heads reworked and they are back in. The problem I have is the guy who flaked on me did not mark the cam shafts when he took them off so I have no idea which dot or dots need to be aligned. We have checked all data and every manual we can find locally and nothing. There is a single dot and two dots on each cam shaft. Can anyone please tell me the proper way to align these???
My understanding is that if you get the dots facing each other you will have the intake and exhaust cams timed to each other. You will then need to get each cylinder bank timed to the crank like you would during a timing belt service. Which since timing was lost will involve getting a piston in each bank to TDC.
