So those bypass modules that spoof the RF in the key for the immobilizer work on our trucks?

yes... if you download the correct firmware.

Ive priced out the kit MPC sells.. the one that’s ready to go for our GX models... it’s $169

if you buy the crime stopper remote start, firmware bypass card, and all the connectors you need.... it’s $239.... and that only comes with generic instructions and you get no tech support if you aren’t an authorized dealer.

So if you want a remote start system.... the MPC kit with 2 1 button remotes is the way to go. That is... if you are installing yourself. But don’t use the factory key version... you’ll just be ordering the one button remotes after you realize how irritating the factory key option will make you. Between range and pushing the lock button with the right timing that is.

The Crime Stopper 1 button remote start is $50 and comes with all the wiring connectors you need. You can buy universal bypass modules for less than $20.... or if you have a extra programmed key bypass it for practically nothing.

The GX470 specific firmware you are referring to with the MPC kit is only for using the factory key fobs which you've already said is worthless.

I priced out the individual parts you get in the MPC kit. Even crime stoppers states you must have bypass firmware to use the remote start on our 1st gen GX models.
I’m not sure there is any difference in a Universal firmware kit... I haven’t connected enough remote start systems.

My point is that the MPC kit is priced well for what you get. Also the firmware you get with MPC comes with upgradable features and superior customer service. They sent me 2 free lcd 4 button remotes for the 4 runner.

Im not sure what you dislike so much about the MPC kit. But they more than met my expectations and after looking up what we need for a remote start, that doesn’t require taping a valet key somewhere near the ignition, I’ll probably use the MPC kit but get the additional remotes this time. Maybe even get the app where you can use your phone to start the car.

I just wouldn’t purchase the kit that uses the factory key again.
