Default Shift problems

2005 Several symptoms.

Delayed shift into drive like a one or two second maybe 4 sec hesitation has happened for three years once a month or less. I changed the fluid two years ago and that may have helped a bit.

Recently the transmission fails to shift into the next gear and sort of hangs between gears. It’s hard to replicate. So I can’t exactly say what’s happening.

The wife drives it and we don’t have any lights on. No trans fluid leaks and not strawberry milkshake either.

I just took it for a rip around the block hoping it would mess up or blow out the cobwebs from her slow footed ness.

Any advice?

thanks.

Get the codes read using an official Toyota/Lexus code reader (because not all generic code readers will understand the transmission module's codes)

There could be stored codes that don't trigger a CEL, and they could be very valuable in pointing you towards a fix. You can buy a Tech-Stream software and cable setup for cheap these days, getting it to work on Win10 is another issue though, but I've seen some that have figured it out lately.
