Inside back door handle pulls out
Hi all - the inside back door handle on the 470 pulls out when applying any pressure to it - anyone have any ideas for quick fixes, short of buying replacement? I do not want to permanently install it (e.g., epoxy or some such thing) as I imagine the rear may have to come off from time to time.
Thx - I must not be doing something right using the search function as I couldn't find anything - that was my first thought. I'll try again and see if can figure out how to get better results.
This is the cargo door handle?
On each side of the handle (the hinges) there are two clips molded into the hinge. There's another part which acts as a wedge and pushes them apart and assures they get a grip on the metal.
If the clips are broken off (like mine did when I changed the backup bulb), ordering a new handle is the only solution unless you want to "bubba" it.
Suggestion: Change the backup bulbs before putting the new handle on so you'll never have to remove it again.

Its most likely universal. Just measure the length from center of plastic clip to center of plastic clip and maybe add 2 inches so the handle has a curve when installing. Its installed using wall anchors.
I bought an oem replacement handle from eBay as well. It was pretty cheap.
I got it to stick on after smacking it a few times to get it to clip into the holes but then then it popped back off after a few pulls so I left it off until I find a better solution.
