Default Considering a purchase

Hi everyone, hope you don't mind me waffling on here, but hoping for advice. We currently have the lease ending on our 2016 Ford Explorer XLT. While its been a great car, the lease buyout is $26k, still not bad when you consider the going rate for that year and mileage, 32k is closer to $30k. However the depreciation obviously dives year after year after that. We are trying to be smart here, or think we are, and buy a reputable, reliable SUV that checks all our needs; 7 seater, towing capacity around 5k lbs, that has taken the depreciation hit for the most part already. Here in Portland Or, we are seeing first generation GX's for around the $8-12k mark with 150k ish miles. Are these cars in fact so reliable that 150k is not considered high mileage. I would of course not pull the trigger unless I saw a decent amount of maintenance records. Also curious as to the real world usability of the 3rd row.
Couple of examples:

https://portland.craigslist.org/mlt/...745351018.html

Any advice much appreciated.
thanks
Daren

The first gen GXes are now old enough that age-related repairs are becoming more common. Unless the sellers have complete maintenance records (including the timing belt at 90k), offer $1200 less than what they're asking.

Typical repairs: Radiator, Front brake calipers, driveshaft (if not already equipped with the improved part), dashboard (if not already replaced under the extended warranty that ended last year), TPMS sensors, headlight lens restoration.

Not common, but crazy expensive repairs: Brake booster, transfer case leak.

150k miles is really not a problem for this vehicle, if maintained. But we're seeing ones on their 3rd & 4th owners that were not, so think about getting an inspection if it's not 1st or 2nd owner.

I will add that I recently bought a Gen 1 2003 with 170K miles on it, solid maintenance history and the dash, radiator, calipers, timing belt, and a few other major parts had already been replaced. I paid around $10K for it, and look at it from the standpoint that even if I have to put 5-6K into it over the next 5 yrs I am still way ahead of the game. They are amazing vehicles to drive.
