took my 06 GX470 to the shop today because traction lights and CEL cane one and was running rough. Has 135,000 Miles. They said to replace the secondary air injector it’s $2200 or they can do a delete for $800. If they delete is it a permanent fix and will it turn off the CEL? Opinions welcome.

The delete must be a by pass kit. I have seen them on line from 300.00 to 400.00 parts plus labor . There not time consuming to install I would search the forum for info on this
Just dealt with this recently. Such a pain in the you know where. Make sure you replace the entire system, air injection pump, secondary pump, and 2 valves (which is the hardest part to get to), those fan blades and foam filter debris go everywhere and damage the entire system, would be a pain to redo everything. We did a DIY video on it, but yet to upload on YouTube.
Excellent write up and video . Its pretty straight forward from what I see. The labor must be 1700.00 + at the dealership + parts
Mine is 2004 gx470 111,300 miles I dread this happening to me. I might have to trade her in
That's the same DIY we followed. Except, this guy lied about how easy to access those 2 valves in the back. Took us 2 days to figure out how, working on the truck 2-3 hours a day. Removing the manifold was truly straight forward, heck, we wouldn't even think twice doing that again. The valves was a real migraine, but after we figured it out, getting it back in was a breeze.
Not sure on the 470s but tecman posted he didn't get any codes with a bypass on on his 460. I'd go with a bypass myself if I had a 470 as that's a lot of work.

So how did you get off the 2 valves in the back? Please share your knowledge as this could help us all. Thanks.
