A GX470 weighs around 4,700 lbs and a Toyota 4Runner V8 is around 4,500 lbs.

It's basically the equivalent in weight of carrying an extra passenger in the front seat or a couple kids in the back.
one of the guys on GXOR on Facebook weighed his. It was over 5,000lbs. I have no experience with 4Runner parts because I've never used them, but as I said, my research showed people were originally very happy with 4R stuff but it quickly went bad. Your experience may be different. I love how mine rides with FJ parts.

The FJ Cruiser is actually lighter than the 4Runner. Depending on options, it's around 4,100 pounds.

on paper maybe. Real life? Not so much. Only 2 posts with FJ's who are BARELY under 5,000lbs.

I recently took some scrap steel to be sold (1). My exit weight was 5020 lbs. This included me, so a curb weight in the 4750 range is about right.

Chip H.

(1) Prices are so low it wasn't even worth the gas money to get there. 180 lbs of mild steel got me $4. But at least I can take comfort that it will get recycled into next years refrigerators, train tracks, or something.

BlackCat is not going to let the actual facts get in the way of the narrative he's trying to sell.

The actual numbers the manufacturers legally have to disclose for the weight can be found in seconds on the web.

ya, what was I thinking reading a thread just like this on the FJ forums which stated otherwise from several members. I guess I also shouldn't believe the threads I've come across where people quickly became unhappy with 4Runner suspension parts.

The great thing about forums? You don't have to agree with me, I don't have to agree with you, but it gives the OP a bit of insight he may not have considered. It doesn't matter what Shock or spring he puts on his car, I'll sleep just fine tonight.
