oil changes
I take it the 70 bucks Lexus charges for oil changes is not worth it and your past the 5000 mile complimentary Lexus service, so what is this the 2nd change at 10k.
It easy as cake, the skid plate is held up by 4 bolts forget the size but 14mm or something like that, yeah 14, drain bolt is 10, then when you have that off it should hang by 2 hooks, makes it easy to put it on cause of it's weight, now their are additional skid plates made out of plastic, it should have an oval shape in it that pops out and right their is your drain bolt
the 1st time has a learning curve but after that 20 minute changes is easy, oh and the filter is right behind the front skid plate, really makes no mess but to keep it even cleaner use a little bag and unscrew the filter so that the oil will spill in the bag.
If you buy the Filter from Lexus you can save a few dollars and pick it up at Toyota, all the V8 Trucks share the same engine and filter.
How often do you change the oil, are you going to stay with dino oil or switch to full synthetic
edit: filter goes on hand tight

I'm at about 6k right now, but plan on doing changes every 3k after the 5k checkup I just had. I'm just going to go with Castrol non-synthetic and see if Fram makes a filter. Thanks for tips on changing it. BTW - do you have to put your Lexus on ramps or can you easily fit under it? My other car, (a Civic) is lowered 2" and I have to use the ramps.

I forgot to mention while your under their give the front drive shaft a few shots of grease
suppost to do it every oil change or every other oil change according to the maintaince book and since it is spinning all the time it probably needs it

Do you guys need the sequence to reset the maintenance light after the oil change? The light comes on after starting, but goes out in a couple seconds. I have it since my dealer forgot to reset it at the 5K change and he thought I could do it.

Yes, I use Mobile 1 on my GX. Going in for my third oil change soon. The dealer told me I'm wasting my money, but I used it on my QX4 for over 100,000 miles, before I gave it to my grandaughter.

Nothin wrong with synthetic but I think doing 3000 mile intervals is kinda pointless but then again whatever makes you happy and if thats the way you do it then cool, many of the 4Runner guys do 5k, 6k, and even 10k changes, some of then might change the oil filter at 5k and then top it off
I just put M1 in my 4Runner cause the oil will be in their for at least 7k then Im gonna have it analized
