Nothin wrong with synthetic but I think doing 3000 mile intervals is kinda pointless but then again whatever makes you happy and if thats the way you do it then cool, many of the 4Runner guys do 5k, 6k, and even 10k changes, some of then might change the oil filter at 5k and then top it off
I just put M1 in my 4Runner cause the oil will be in their for at least 7k then Im gonna have it analized

the owners manual says every 5k. that's what we do on the gs, so i'm sure that's what we will do on the gx.

edit: why 5k on the gs and not the GX

Changing the oil is the easy part, disposing the old oil is the tougher part. For the little bit of money, I just assume take it in and have them change the oil and dispose of the old.

On my second change, I happened to be in Indiana, I took the dealer 7 quarts of Mobile1. Needless to say, I didn't get my half quart back.

In your GX owners manual does it say anything about 5000 and 7500 intervals cause with my 4Runner it says that but I think Toyota took the 7500 mile interval away for the 04 model year, even check your GS manual, trying to find if Toyota decided to do away with people doing 7500 miles before a change

i didn't write that very well. the gx manual says 5000 intervals. i didn't see anything about 7500.
The 04's are 5K mile OCI. I did mine at 1800 miles and will again at 5K miles. I will continue from 5K miles on, to do the oil/filter change every 4K miles using Castrol GTX 5w30. Since I never tow, haul and the 4.7 V8 in my vehicle never works that hard or in temps below "0" or above "95" I would reather change my oil/filter using a premium dino oil versus go for longer drain intervals with a synthetic. Now if I towed or lived in below "0" or above "100" conditions I would use Mobil 1 synthetic and change it every 5K miles.
What is the recommended oil filter for the GX? I have a GS4, and I know there was a whole controversy on lexus switching over from japanese nippon-denso filters, to much cheaper korean filters. Has the same thing happened with the GX, and if so, what's the part number on the new and old filters?
My fiance has an '05 4Runner V8 limited on order, which is why I ask.

I figure if I keep thinking I'm in Maui some day I will live there. I know I'm one sick puppy
But they now have changed the laws on quarentining dogs and cats that enter Hawaii, so my chances are getting better, and better. Maybe I can move there before I turn 56?
