Height Control is only the rear, and Low is used to help load things and help people getting in and out. High is used for extra clearance in slow manuvers. So it is useful. The same things happen in the LX470 as well, it's just 4 corner control on the LX. I am fairly sure that for most SUV's with height control, it is mainly to aid entry/exit, and that it returns to a default position once underway...
