oem subwoofer replacement

Default oem subwoofer replacement

hey all recently my subwoofer on the 03 lexus gx470 went out i looked up the price for a original mark levinson one and is a bit pricey for me right now so i was wondering can i go with an alternitive subwoofer like kenwood sony etc and if so what size is the sub thanks.

There's a member here running a 6.5" Kicker CVT sub.

They're ok subs. I had 2-8" paired with a JL Audio 300.2/V2 amp in my Tundra.

oh ok nice for the 6.5" Kicker CVT sub does that fit in the box that the mark levinson sub is in so i just switch them out? and then so 6.5 is the sub size?

also i noticed you painted your grill black really nice job man did you do that yourself? is there some sort of special paint i can get to do it myself and is it pricey? lol

Yes I did it myself. I used plasti-dip, which sells for about $5 per can and it took about 1/3 of the can to paint the grill. I put about 4-5 coats on it. It sprays on like spray paint but is a rubberized coating which is pretty durable. Good thing about it is if you don't like it you can simply peel it off. I've been using this stuff for a little over 14yrs now, way before it was the "in thing".

oh alright nice thanks i like how the grille gives your gx470 a nice touch with that black...al though my gx is silver so well see how it comes out or i may try a different color to see.
