Default NJ Mechanic needed

What's up fellas.

Anyone knows a good Lexus/Toyota mechanic live in North/Central New Jersey area please ?

My current mechanic live an 1 hour away from me right now and most of the times he's not available. Looking for a new mechanic.

I have to change my Timing belt and Water pump which is due. I'm almost desperate right now and trying to stay away from Lexus Stealerships.

Many thanks

Check these guys out...they are good, the shop is immaculate. Bringing your own parts, probably, but you would have to ask.

Hey Alan. Many Thanks!

I'm getting a Timing Belt and water pump replacement. So I called both the dealer and the garage for a quote.
To my amazement, the garage is just as expensive as the dealer.
Both quote me for $1400.

How come the garage is giving me dealer price ? I thought the garage would be more cost effective. Also, they said If I bring my own part, they will not warrant the work (I don't have a problem with their rules)
However, i do see it more beneficial to go to the stealership, at least I get a loaner car for the duration of the job and I wont' have to pay for a rental.

I'm still on the fence here.

Please let me know what you think.

Thanks

When i needed my timing belt a few years ago, i got a price from Caldwell toyota of 800, and that included a waterpump and radiator flush...I went to Warnock which is now route 10 Lexus and told them the price and asked if they want to meet it for the work....they said yes, with tax it was less than $900 and the free loaner...I do most stuff myself so i can be somewhat ignorant of the drama associated with pricing and repairs. I always took my mothers I35 to Morristown and did not shop price too much on her car. Everything that was done never went back with a problem. When you talk to service writers at Lexus, just make sure you are standing at the counter alone, negotiating a price in front of other customers could make them more rigid.

I dont think the normal service associate writer is authorized to lower prices. I think you need a private meeting with service manager. I know at my dealership that services my lexus the sales dept service dept and parts dept are all run for profit. If a used car comes in the service dept charges the used car manager the same that we pay . They build all of the charges into the used car and the next buyer is paying for it. In sales on a new car the service dept bills lexus for warranty work and the sales dept needs to get approval on any special concessions made to the new car buyer ie accessories etc.

They dont lose a dime in any dept

Well, my experience was pretty simple, there were 4 "service advisors" sitting at the counter, i just walked up to one and gave him my speech and he said they would meet the price and give me a free loaner....that was 2 years ago, dealer changed hands since then, but I can assure you when I get to 180K I will do the same thing again. Let you know in a couple of years.

Business or no business. Doesn't hurt to try and negotiate.

Hey RBX10 where are you located in nj? I have a shop that I deal with and im pretty sure they can get you a good price on install using your own parts.

Tach Motor Works
1830 Woodbridge Avenue Edison, NJ 08817
(732) 801-9392

Speak to Lucky, hes the owner and usually is there. Tell him TJ sent you and he will take care of you. His prices are reasonable and his work is amazing.

Here's my guy that works on all my cars (SC430, GX470 and BMW 335ci). All my friends and family use him as well. He was trained by Hoffman BMW in Bloomfield years ago and has a fabulous reputation in terms of quality and price on their work.
Total Precision AutoWorks
20 Watchung Avenue
Belleville, NJ 07109
Ask for Mark or Billy and tell them Jack with the Black Lexus SC430 recommended you!

Two years ago they did my SC timing belt, water pump, thermostat, spark plugs, Oil & filter, trans oil & filter.
Dont recall price but go there and let them give you a quote.
