Hello all. I just had a "maintenance needed" light come on my instrument cluster on my '08 GX 470. The vehicle has 57K miles on it. Does any one know what service is needed? Is it just and oil change or does it require something much more extensive? Any information would be greatly appreciate.

the maintance light foes on every 5000 miles to remind you of oil changes, it goes by mileage... reset it and it will do it again in 5000 miles or so. if the truck is in need of any other maintence, check your owners manual for schedule. Or ask you friendly local Lexus dealer, I am sure he would be happy to take your credit card and your first born.

 

Thanks, Alan. That is what I thought. I keep hearing to stay away from Lexus Dealerships on this board and others as well. Are they really all that bad?

Just not usually great diagnosticians...they just replace do as much as they can bill for at a premium. A Toyota dealer can do the same job at less per hour

 

That is good to know, Alan. I will keep that in mind the next time I need service. With the assistance from post on this site, I also learned how to recycle the "Maint Needed" dummy light on the instrument cluster.
