Default NAV Issue - Unable to read data

Yesterday as I took off for work, I noticed no map on my nav screen. Below is the message I am getting. This is a 2004 and my guess is the nav has never been updated. I bought the GX 3.5 years ago as a CPO. Any ideas on what is going on?

It happened a couple times for me. Could be a dirty DVD head. Try to remove the DVD and put it back again.

I located the DVD player for the Nav system under the passenger seat. I then popped off the plastic cover, slid the "opener", but when I pushed the eject button under the slider nothing happened. I tried it with the GX off and running. Any suggestions for getting the DVD out?

You need to have the GX key in the on position to turn on the power (not the engin). Hope this help.

Finally made the time to check this again. I had the key in the "on" position. The only "eject" button I found is the one under the "slider" on the front of the unit to the left side. Nothing happens when I push it. No sound at all. I checked the connections under the seat and everything appears OK.

When I first start in the morning, I do get the correct map for about 5 seconds followed by the message above. Not sure what this means. Is it possibly a fuse issue?

You probably have old and damaged disc. See if you can find a replacement (and newer version!) disc on eBay. A few years old discs are relatively cheap.

Push the eject button, in 3-5 seconds, the DVD disc should eject. I don't know what is wrong. But I don't think it has anything to do with the fuse.

Hey TZ - I'm on vacation using my wife's car. Won't be able to work on this again until next weekend.

I decided to live with the problem for a while but it started to **** me off again. I tried to get the DVD to eject but nothing happens when I push the eject button. Is there an easy way to determine if the player is getting power? Anyone ever have to replace the unit?

Sorry for the multiple posts.

I did a little more research and was able to access the "hidden" service menu using the following sequence of tapping the screen in my first post:

top left
bottom left
top left again
bottom left again
top right
bottom right

It didn't work every time, but I got there. Apparently it is able to read the version and other disk info. When I tap on the Loading button, there are a bunch of choices, 2 for US. One was TAB and the other I think was RSW. I'm thinking maybe I'll try re-loading the maps. Still can't get the DVD to eject though.

Anyone have knowledge of this hidden service menu?
