Default CEL Code: P0113 / P0113 P

Ive been getting these 2 codes (P0113 / P0113P <--?) for a few months now. I know what P0113 means but Ive never heard of P0113 P?

Ive cleaned the MAF w/ CRC MAF cleaner. Ive swapped out MAFs w/ one of my old ones from my Tundra and I still get the code every week or so. I ordered a new gas cap & gasket from Sewell last night but it seems to tighten fine so I dont know. Im hoping thats the problem but if not is there anything else I can check?

The GX idles fine, even with the CEL light on. No weird noises or anything else wrong that I can see / hear / feel other than the still crappy 11-12 MPG im getting.

I think it's the same code, with one of them being indicated as a stored issue. As in, it's been happening.

Have you verified your intake air temperatures are within a normal range?

Read this little site and follow those instructions to help diagnose the problem:

Thanks.
I dont have a code reader, just a scanner. I'll get a live code reader and check it out.

the IAT is in with the MAF sensor. i am not sure if you can replace just the IAT or you need a new MAF.
I know the IAT sensor is in the MAF, thats why I cleaned it and swapped the stock GX with the one from my Tundra. I got the codes w/ both sensors. Its highly unlikely that both MAF sensors are bad, especially since the Tundra MAF had less than 50K miles.

Taco the ECM does not go into fail safe for P0113 Fault, Here the ECM which monitors the sensor voltage, uses this value to calculate the IAT ( Intake Air temp) When the Sensor output deviates of the normal operating temprature range, The ECM interprets this as a fault in the IAT Sensor and triggers a fault onto the cluster. Nothing more.

The ECM would go into fail safe only when the Engine Coolant Temp Circuit sensors detect a change in the resistance value, and goes beyond the threshold value ( operating range) , then it goes into Fail Safe mode.

RCGX what you have could two issues to troubleshoot, either the MAF itself or the ECM itself. Only a dealer can tell this as you need to download the Freeze frame data of the Engine conditions and then determine when the malfunction occured. Could be a air fuel ratio going lean or rich. Hope this helps

Thanks man777!

I was going to drop the GX off at the Toyota dealer to get an oil change today so while its there 'll have them check it out. The code popped up this morning and I used my code reader to clear the code / CEL. Because I cleared it will they be able to check the MAF / ECM or do they need the code to be visible IE: CEL on?

EDIT: They werent able to check it because I had cleared the code / CEL. I'll have to wait for it to come back on and bring it back to them.

RCGX sometime not to get root cause the dealer may advise to change both, if that is the case, ensure you get the Freeze frame data, I can let you know what is the core issue requiring the part change.

I'll be sure and get a print out. I hope its the MAF because between the two that would be the cheapest and easiest to replace but I dont think its the MAF because Ive swapped out the stock GX w/ one from my old Tundra and both pulled the same code within a few hundred miles.

I'll keep you posted. Thanks for the help!

Do you see any foam chewed up under the engine bay covers. If so, find the wire that's chewed up. Strange electrical problems are often caused by our lovely rodent friends

No, wires are all good. No rodents over here.....

Since I replaced the gas cap the code has not came back and I was getting the code at least once sometimes twice a week. Coincidence, maybe, but for now no more code.

Same here, getting Check engine and it was saying small vacuum leak, I replaced the gas cap and it has been fine for 2 weeks now. Did notice the old cap turned and clicked way too easy
