GX not starting!!!!!!
Well I dunno what to do. I tried to start the car many times. The starter (or what ever part it is) seems to crank over and over for about five seconds and then stops. Nothing. Battery is fine. Everything electrical powers up. Just not the engine.
I just recently had the complete timing belt service done and oil change about two weeks ago. That's about it. Now I am a sitting duck tonight....

I would not know the first thing about even looking for what your talking about. This so sucks. I will mention this to my friend. See if they understand. I appreciate that.

Hi all!
Ok first of all I wanted to thank everyone for chiming in and helping out. I found the issue and it's resolved when I used the extra original key. It was my fault. Let me explain and offer some info to help out as well from my mistake.
Simply put it was the aftermarket switchblade key I bought. Not the original one, but the cooler looking one I got cause I just thought it would look better. Well it was not the right choice.
The original switch blade was cut right and worked properly. The one on the left in the pic. The one on the right is a different design. There is a different length key that I switched out and there is an extra layer added with the chrome buttons. I am not 100% sure why it made things not work but it did and I would NOT recommend using the newer design on the right.

lol such stress over this. Man everything that went through my head over this since I just got this GX not long ago. So relieved it was just the key. Thanks everyone!

Glad you got the car running. Must have been a great relief when it started.
Now I am confused. I have a 2006 GX and I have a regualr old style key (non switchblade). You say you have an origianal one switchblade key. . Can you or anyone help me understand where the switchblade keys come from, I assume they are form the dealer, and where you got the non working switchblade key from. Thanks, Al .

No no the original (as shown) not OEM. Both are ebay switch blades. One was precut and the other was not. Trust me it's not all that important accept one works and one does not.
This works:

This does not:

lol yeah it's the long blade key that won't read the chip. lame i know. i had that issue and the key been sitting on my drawers for 1 year now, cant even use it unless i cut it.

Interesting facts are that my Alternator failed on Friday. Not what a day after this issue I thought was resolved?
Who knows if it's connected but so far will cost me including my towing cost about $350 for parts and labor. I do feel a bit lucky however my mechanic is seasonably priced. Lexus dealer is $800 + parts and labor. Lets hope there are no other little costly surprises anytime soon.
