Default Remote Start GX with Iphone

Guys This is really goods new to Car owners , especially our CL forum members who have Iphone. Only need one thing to install the Viper Smart Card. The rest is .
This is how it works
Purchase the Viper SmartStart, which allows users to start their car with the push of a button from their iPhone.
Users simply download the free Viper SmartStart app from the Apple App Store, have Viper SmartStart professionally installed on their vehicle, and then activate their account to start experiencing the year-round comfort and convenience of Viper SmartStart.

Particularly popular in cold weather climates, remote start allows users to start their vehicle by remote control to defrost the windows and pre-warm the cabin, so they get into a warm car that's ready to drive. Remote start can also be used to pre-cool the vehicle in hot weather by activating the air conditioning. Viper SmartStart has virtually unlimited range. If the iPhone and the vehicle have signal, then Viper SmartStart starts the car with the press of a button
Two Viper SmartStart models are available. Users who don't have remote start can purchase the Viper SmartStart System (MSRP: $499) while those who already have a compatible Viper system can purchase just the Viper SmartStart Module (MSRP: $299). Viper SmartStart will be available at Best Buy stores starting October 13.

Thanks for the info!

The Best Buy web site says the Viper SmartStart requires a service plan. The first year is included, but do you know the cost of the service after the first year?

Antonio.

I just heard something about this on the news this morning. Sounds like a great idea, but apparently the convenience has back fired for some owners. What's happening is cars are being started accidently by owners and it's happening quite a bit when they are away on trips and the cars are left running in airport parking lots for days only to come back from their trip to find their car will not start because they have no gas left.

Essentially you can start your car from anywhere in the world as long as you have cell service.

Imagine someone accidentally starting the car in the garage while they weren't home and filling the house with carbon monoxide?

Mann777, thank you for sharing the information. Is it working with Generation 2 Iphones? Also does it work with 04-05 GX model?

It works will all models of GX. I do not remember seeing the fee part..even it is..30/$ a year is peanuts fr this stuff to be installed. Especially on a hot day if you suv is parked the whole day or half a day and you could have the AC let the car cooled prior to you arriving physically too the car.

I use the unlock remote to roll down the windows and open the sunroof to solve that problem and it's free. The winter would be useful though but then again why not just install a remote starter?

I don't know about the other systems but with Viper, the remote starter runs on a timer. So even if you do accidentally start it, it will run for a preset time (12, 24, ... minutes) and shut itself off.

I already have a Viper remote start unit that is compatible with this. Just need an iPhone & this module. One nice feature that it has for long parks, is that it has a voltage monitor. When the voltage drops below X volts, the car starts for preset time then shuts itself off.

If you already have a compatible system in place then you will just need this module. Otherwise you will need a full alarm/remote starter system and this module.
