Default How to access reverse lights bulb?

I've searched the archives (both GX470 forum and lighting forum) trying to find how to access the bulbs on our reverse lights that flank the license plate, but found nothing.

Has anyone replaced the reverse bulbs, and if so do you have to remove the interior trim panel on the taligate to get at them, or can the light lenses be removed from the exterior? I did not see any screws or bolts that were around the lense assembly....

Thanks,

"Blind in the dark" Bob

Give this a try. I think this is the right approach.

Thanks. If I read the thread correctly you can pop the lense assembly out from the outside????

Default Talked to Lexus Master Tech

Bulbs are only accessible from inside - meaning you need to remove the interior trim panel on the rear door to replace them.

If someone has been able to do it from the outside I sure would like to have them describe exactly how it was accomplished.

Thanks...I think.

What the hell is a Garnish? I mean I know what the word means, but in this context is it referring to the outside chrome trim piece above the license plate?

In the link in the first reply to my post, there are two members who claim that you can remove the light housing from outside. but I still can't see how to do this (easily).

If you look at this last picture you can see the two "claws" that hold the lens in place...I am asssuming that you can carefully pry this out from the outside (insert disclaimer: If you brake yours don't come asking for me to help you replace it...do it at your own risk).

I think I'll do it the long (right) way. I just don't see an easy way to do it from the outside without, breaking, scratching, or screwing something up....
