Default TRD air filter

Based on my cross matching, it seems like TRD air filter PTR05-34990-03 (listed for SEQUOIA ‘01 – ‘06 / TUNDRA ‘00 – ‘06) is the right filter for GX. TRD USA will not confirm nor deny this. Does anyone know if it the right filter?

Thanks,

Vadim

If you look on K & N's website the GX, V8 4Runner, 1st generation Sequoia and 4.7L Tundra all use the same filter. So you would think that it would work nicely. But Champion Toyota lists a PT901-17801-04 for a V8 4Runner which is a GX's closest cousin, parts wise. Where did you get the Sequoia/Tundra TRD part number?

That's exactly what I did

I was looking at trd catalogue (on trdusa.com). Interestingly, they don't list PT901-17801-04 at all.

Does anyone have trd airfilter? (I remember reading in on of the post that someone has trd airfilter). Can you please confirm which one do you have?

Thanks,

Vadim

Why did you remove it?

sewell doesn't carry it any more, and when I asked for TRD part number, they replied "We do not have this information available anymore, as we no longer offer it." (I would expect them to have part # on file).

Anyone else has one?

Vadim

I was searching for a RSES remote holder thing and came across this in the GX accessories catelog. The TRD filter is listed as PTR05-60030-04. Only problem is that the description says Lexus GT. Typo hopefully.

Any reason why you want a TRD filter rather than a K&N? I picked up a K&N but that was mainly b/c I could get it at any Advance Auto or Autozone. Have you considered a True Flow filter. I think a lot of 3rd gen 4Runner people on yotatech.com have been pleased with these.

I don't think this would be the right filter. TRD list it for 4RUNNER ‘03 – ‘06 / LAND CRUISER ‘98 – ‘06 / LEXUS (LX) ‘98 – ‘06
LEXUS (GS) ‘03 – ‘06. Now based on K&N cross listing Land Cruiser and LX do have the same filter (different than GX), but GS has different one (it is not even rectangular). 4Runner has different one for either of the engines....

Any reason why you want a TRD filter rather than a K&N?
Back in my supra days, TRD filter were shown to be better. They had more folds-> larger area -> better airflow. If I could get TRD for reasonable price I would, otherwise I would get K&N.

Another reason is dealer's greed. If you have K&N type filter, dealer would loose money on trying to change airfilter for you, so they would start selling you BS about MAF cleaning (they have to find a way to make money). If you have TRD, there is not much they could say.

I Take it back. TRD does list it for V8 4Runner (in flash version, but not in PDF version). So I'll try it.

Thanks Frank.

I got PTR05-60030-04 and it is the right filter. I can not say that I've feel any difference after installing it, but I don't drive this car too often (it is my wife's car + trips).

I have a question for you folks. Are you guys installing just the filter in the stock box or installing the entire CAI? I've been dying to install the KNN CAI but been afraid that it would void my warranty.
