Hi,

Our Xtreme kits do not use any mcculloch components. While the kits do look similar, the internals are completely different (as well as the bulbs and wiring).

Out of curiousity, I see very few people even mention squirrel spotters in their install. Are people just bending the flap down, leaving it as is, or sealing the spotters with coke can? And I just want to confirm, for those that messed with the spotters, you did it without pulling the headlights out of the car, right?

I am just about ready to make the order from Xenon Depot. Over at toyotanation where I troll for my camry, everyone insists squirrel spotters must be covered up. Unfortunately, that is a task of pulling the bumper off and removing the headlights to get more space to work in covering the spotters. Not fun.

Just curious if this is assumed in the GX or not needed or what as I see very few mentions of this.

TIA...

Most people here just leave the squirrel cage alone, way too much work to cover it. You would have to take the light apart and modify the shield.

Hmm... Ok. Is the light from the squirrel cage different on the GX because it's a taller SUV (compared to a sedan) and so the light onto oncoming traffic is less of an issue?

Here's a thread on toyotanation on how the guys there are covering the squirrel spotters up.

http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/sh...t=glare&page=2

On the camry, it's a pain because to remove the headlights, the front bumper needs to be removed.

Otherwise, a pencil, some JB weld, double sided tape and a coke can does the trick rather nicely. The GX may have more space to work with so removal of the entire headlight assembly may not be necessary (I hope).

Anyhow, would love to hear from anyone that has covered the squirrel spotters on the GX, how they did it.

Steve (@ XenonDepot),

I have a 2004 GX470, which HID kit do I need? I don't know if my light configuration is a H3 or what?

Thanks,

Vong

How is it for other drivers? I don't want to blind oncoming traffic...

Do the projectors in the GX keep the light fairly focused? Any draw backs of going with the HID's?

I did a similar kit on my '91 NSX and there were no issues at all...the factory projectors kept the light spot on with a nice cutoff.. That's all I want to make sure of.

You will love them--they have a perfect cutoff, right at trunkline of cars and I have never gotten flashed yet. I had the wife drive towards me in the GX and I was in her car and no glare!! Best money spent

Hi Guys/Kermit =)

vongdo -You would need to get an H11 HID kit for the GX low beams. Did you have any questions about color temperature?

DrVolkl - Your headlights will allow a slight amount of light to bleed upwards to illuminate overhead signs. However, we have had many GX customers on this board that are very happy with the results. I would suggest sticking with lower color temperatures to provide more of an OEM look/feel.

If you have any further questions please don't hesitate to ask!

Booyah - How are you finding the 4300k Philips? Have they started to color shift?
